With the surrounding legends, it is hard to say what Bruce Lee was and was not. The positive influence that his legendary status has had on countless individuals across the globe cannot be denied, and he will be remembered for a long time.
As far as his fighting ability and his strength go, it is really hard to say exactly how great he was. From what I understand, Bruce Lee was a really really tough guy, and I would say that he was definetly strong. He actually looked like he got alot smaller before he died. But when he shot Return of the Dragon, man, he looked pretty ****ing thick. Hes one of those dudes that sortof looks small, then once he contracts and flexs his bodies muscles, he becomes noticeably MUCH larger.

I have done research on this before. From what few researcher say, they say he's pretty strong for someone of his size, but not extremely strong or as great as his fans want to think. They watch him lift weights and he curls like only 80 which isn't that much, they watch him run two miles which take him about 18 mins which isn't that impressive, and many other things. However he was definitely in good shape.

You don't have to be strong to be in great shape. Look at people like dancer, models, etc... They're slender but very toned but not that strong.

I will try to find that site again, it have been taken down a couple time. However it have log of bruce Lee's work out routine and other stuff like that. It was pretty decent but nothing beyond normal human capability or anything.

Strength had nothing to do with it, but more about how well he trained at perfecting his techniques. So that he knew exactly what he needed to do in any situation that presented itself.

As Kveldorgondlier said, knowing where to hit is just as important as knowing how to strike.

he was phenominally strong physically for someone who was about 5'5" and around (maybe) 150 lbs, because he also trained with weights and did cardio workouts for better stamina.

It's my belief that he was the one Martial Artist to first learn the full potential of as well as the true nature of Martial Arts or any fighting discipline, because he studied many disciplines and fighting styles, and he could break it down to it's simplest form and application.

and he was always willing to incorprate new ideas into his own arsenal to make himself a more well rounded fighter, plus when he was a teen in China, he was notorious for getting into fights, and his parents were worried that he'd bring shame to the family by participating in these illegal fights in Hong Kong.

so they sent him to the United States to live with a family friend who owned a restaurant in Seattle, so he could go to school and get a high school diploma, and he also studied philosophy and often applied that to his Martial Arts training which prob'ly gave him better insight to his training.

I would say his ability more than his strength was what he was known for.

It wasn't just his strength, which was unusual for anyone his size, it was also about his ability to use it effectively. Knowing HOW to hit is just as important as knowing where to hit, and he was acconmplished at both. He was almost obsessive about his training and probably understood how to apply his strength better than most ever will, and thats what it's all about...application.

I dont think i've ever heard anybody say anything about his physical strength, but i have heard them talk about his incredible speed and fitness and also about his techniques and most of them are pretty well right.you get the odd person that will say he's superhuman and can walk on water but you can work that out for yourself.hell i hav'nt even perfected walkin' on water yet hahahaha .just kiddin'.people who say he's just a movie actor well i guess thier entitled to thier delusion but theres an old saying about most people cant wait to knock a champion.cant remember exactly how it goes but you get the picture.
