only certain sects of Christian religion (Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Anglican and several more) baptize their infants in the belief that either they are being obedient in guarenteeing their child is "saved" or that their child is immediately a "child of god" and therefore born in the Spirit.
The bible only supports baptism as an act of obedience, in that we declare that we have accepted Jesus as our Saviour and will follow Him thereby confirming our faith.
The above mentioned religions have taken "confirmation" at about age 12 as the next step in that the child has now reached the age of reason, and will therefore confirm his/her faith..
all this being said, babies and children are loved by the Lord - they are special in His sight as he says "the kingdom of God belongs to such as these" and "unless you become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom" by this Jesus is saying that a child's simple faith is far greater to understanding Him.
Further on it says "whoever humbles himself like a child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven" and further still: "whoever welcomes a little child in my name, welcomes me"
from these scriptures, we can quite accurately deduce that Jesus highly values children. They are simple, loving, faithful, caring and innocent. And yes, should they die before they are baptized, they will be in heaven with Jesus, probably romping with abandon in the biggest plastic ball bin ever!

Babies do not go to heaven. Is hell the only alternative? There is Heaven, hell and Earth. I don't know where purgatory comes from. Is hell the only alternative? I don't think God would send babies to hell. It would show God to be imperfect.
This is a good question. If according to Catholics... they go to purgatory. You have to buy their soul free. If Muslim, they go to hell as an infidel unless born to a Muslim. I could be wrong on this one. Ok, born again christian, baby goes to hell, they were not born again. Oh, so there is a loophole? I can still get to heaven? I doubt it. How old do you have to be to be a baby? And who decides that number.
No one wants to admit an unbaptized baby goes to hell. You can watch the Christian shuffle their feet. Where in the bible does it say unbaptized babies go to heaven? It doesn't. I've read the bible from cover to cover. Yes... there are references to babies, but nothing covering the entrance to heaven. And if you don't go to heaven, you go to hell. The Christian God is very black and white. Unless you choose a third choice, reincarnated on earth.
I am an unbeliever in the entire concept of heaven and hell. This concept is a terror tactic to force believers to attend church, situp and play according to their rules.
Ok, if you all think unbaptized baby goes to heaven, what is your proof? Bible? Instincts? If an unbaptized, unsaved baby goes to heaven, then how are they different than angels? Angels rebelled, getting kicked into hell. If God is trying to build a superior force to battle the outcast angels, would he want any unsave people, even babies in his army. These babies would be a weak link, untested. In the end, there is one big battle, when Satan is unleashed. So goes the story.
I say babies who die, get reincarnated, like everyone else. Sometimes a death is needed to make the living appreciate life. Ever notice how good people always die early. Those that succeed at their "test", get recast into a different situation.
Who says you only get one life? Is there biblical evidence you only get one life?
Ok, you "NO" answers...stop being lazy and clarify your reason. According to the bible, the unbaptized /unsaved go to hell...no exception. Harsh, but that is the rule. Unless, you admit of a third choice reincarnation ... or purgatory.
There are no innocents after Adam. Babies are not innocent. The concept of original sin, it is inherited at birth. Babies are sinners from day one.

The Catholic Church does no longer have faith, and has never believed, that unbaptized infants bypass to hell. Hell is a place of grief and discomfort, which somewhat one has no longer earned. regardless of if, there's a custom of theory withing the Catholic Church (i do no longer think of this is a dogma) that people who do no longer understand God won't see Beatific ingenious and prescient, the optimum awareness of God and the optimum exhilaration a threat for human beings. An harmless toddler who has had no threat to decide for sturdy or evil, is although a residing soul, and does no longer go through. a sturdy individual who had no threat to renowned Christ, yet although had achieved his/her maximum suitable to act rightly in existence, will particularly obtain some form of paradise. the main factors of this are fodder for hypothesis. for hundreds of years, there replaced right into a Catholic classic theory (no longer a dogma, yet believed via maximum) that unbaptized infants might bypass to "Limbo," a place of organic happiness yet without the Beatific ingenious and prescient. this thought is no longer so commonplace, yet i'm specific many nevertheless carry to it. besides, this is extremely the ingenious and prescient Dante had; the unbaptized infants interior the underworld weren't suffering, they have been in a state of organic happiness, yet ought to no longer attain the Beatific ingenious and prescient. there is not any regulation asserting that Catholics ought to have faith Dante's version of Heaven and Hell. this is poetry, no longer theology. regardless of if this is substantial say that Catholics at the instant are not meant to have faith that unbaptized infants go through the trials of Hell. The Bible would not bypass into greater than a number of element with reference to the afterlife; this is greater involved by a thank you to stay in this existence.

Depends on what sect you follow. Catholics believe unbaptized babies go to purgatory. Presbyterians believe they go to heaven. Lutherans and baptists believe they go to hell.

Since God says that life begins at conception, I conclude that baptism is not a requirement to enter Heaven. What of children that are miscarriages? I do not recall any man of God who insisted upon praying over the discarded tissue before it was flushed down the toilet (as can occur). Does that mean they are doomed? No. I believe that God has compassion and every human life has a soul, and all life at conception is pure and will be admitted to Heaven upon death.

No. There is no sense in baptizing a person until they understand what it is representative of. First they should be saved and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, then afterwards they can be baptized to show that they have dedicated their life to the Lord.

Depending on your section of Christianity it would be yes or no. I can tell you that Catholics used to believe that they go to Purgatory. In a strict interpretation of the bible they would because they haven't been cleanse of the original sin.

It is the LDS belief that any infant that dies before the age of accountability, having not been baptized, will return to the Father in heaven in His kingdom of glory.

I don't think so. I think that you can't go to Hell if you're without sin. I also think that babies are born without sin, and continue to be blameless until they reach a point where they know that what they're doing is wrong.
