I have seen a lot of Christians pointing fingers at certain groups on this site, and in particular at those Christian sects which interpret things a little differently than most Christians do. I have seen them say things like "_______ are not Christians because they do not fit the Biblical definition of Christians." I always thought a Christian was someone who believed in Jesus Christ as the Savior of mankind, or accepted the New Testament as fact. Apparently, for some people, that is not enough to classify someone as a Christian.

So, I just wanted to know, what IS the Biblical definition of "Christians"? Please provide any Biblical references to support your answers. Thank you.

Actually the word Christian is never actually used in the Bible. The term wasn't coined until after Jesus' birth. However, it has come to be accepted that a Christian is a follower of the Jesus Christ. According to the Bible, to follow Christ one must 1. realize he/she is a sinner. 2. Realize the need for a Savior. 3. Realize Jesus is this Savior 4. and accept Him into your life and Lord. That is the simple defination, however, a Christian should be actively growing in their faith. When a person comes to know Christ as Lord, they should desire to want to please Him and ovey his Word. In this, it is also important for a Christian to believe that The Bible is indeed 100% truth and comes directly from God.

I also want to mention that the more you read your Bible and be open to the teaching of the Holy Spirit the more you will realize what the calling of a disciple of Christ (Christian) is.

Our world believes being a good person makes you a Christian, however, you are not a follower of Christ until you accept Him into your life and have a personal relationship with Him.

While there is no definition put forth in the Bible, the term means a follower of the teachings and life of Jesus, the Christ. His teachings are throughout the Bible, and His life exemplifies them as recorded in the Gospels.

The biblical definition of Christian (Christ in), is one who has CHRIST IN their heart. They have committed their lives to following and serving Him. As He sacrificed his life for us, we make sacrifices for the benefit of others.
