She left 3 times to be with him. Now she's homeless, drunk, and stupid. She called to say she'd kill me if I took him(my grandson) away. Is there anyone besides Welfare associates that can help me get custody? He is in danger if he goes back. I want him to stay with me and be safe and happy. Does anyone have a friend with legal advice that won't cost me a million dollars? Just tell me what court house to go to , (not Dover, Maine) to file a motion for custody. thank you ( a worried Nana)

If you belong to a church talk to the minister or the ladies society about getting custody. If not, join one. Usually they know of a lawyer who will help with this. You CAN get her declared as an unfit mother and get custody. I know of people who have done that. You can tape record her threats and get a restraining order so she can't come near you. It is probably just a way of trying to scare you and doesn't really mean anything but with a drunk you never know.
One of my friends watched his daughter and reported her for driving drunk with the kid in the car. She had the grandchild at her home the very same day.

It's called child welfare, use it............

You have to take action today! You are going to have get an attorney. Ask him to get an emergency hearing and petition the Court for custody. Although the Supreme Court voted that grandparents do not have any more rights than any non-parent, it sounds like you have a good case. You need to sit down and document everything you can think of. Write down all dates and all events. Write down the names and numbers of anyone that can confirm your allegations. You must prove your daughter unfit. It sounds like you have won't have any problem there. Get and attorney and fight for custody. Tell your attorney about the threats. The court can issue a restraining order. A Guardian ad Litem will be appointed. You will tell this person everything. Then she will investigate and make a reccommendation to the Court. Get all of your ducks in a row. Based on what you have said, you need to ask for full custody and your daughter should only have supervised visitation. Ask the Court to order a hair follicle drug test. It needs to be hair follicle, not urine. Good luck....you are doing the right thing. Protect that child...

greater complicated then that. i become raised as a Catholic, with 5 toddlers. 3 went directly to college, and lead very efficient lives, 2 on no account went to college, yet one all started his very own corporation. the different one is a drug abuser, that lives from minute to minute. now could be that my mothers and fathers fault or his, he had each possibility we had, he had an identical parental teachings, yet, he chosen a various course. mothers and fathers get fortunate, as I did, 2 for 2 and the two are dynamite toddlers. yet i'm unable to take the credit for that, i might desire to furnish them the credit through fact they deserve it.
