Colors affect older children and adults' moods it is likely that they may have affect baby's moods. Baby's have not developed moods the way we have, they just aren't old enough and mature enough. Brightly colored rooms are more likely to overstimulate a baby which could cause crying so don't go overboard on the bright colors. Cartoon characters will have very little affect. Make sure that the pictures have good, strong, and loving faces and they will help the baby's eyesight and can make the baby feel less alone in the room. Most of us recover from our childhood, just love the baby and don't be afraid to change stuff that doesn't seem to be working.
Have fun

Never heard of that, but I suppose it could hold some truth. I mean, color affects our moods as adults...
As far as Barney and Sesame Street go, I personally won't touch them with a ten-foot pole for my baby, simply b/c I can't stand them. LOL And my husband and I really aren't into character toys and such for our children. I'd say, if you want to decorate, use tasteful colors appropriate to the child's gender of course, and use timeless items of style such as flowers, teddy bears, bunny rabbits (that's what's in my little girl's room), hearts, trains, cars and trucks, bugs, etc. Bright colors and fun decorations certainly can stimulate a baby's brain and catch their attention. :-) As far as affecting them in the future, I don't know about that; I mean, mental and visual stimulation is good and helps the baby develop normally, but I don't think that in ten years, someone is going to say, "Wow, your son is such a bright child! You must have let him play with Winnie the Pooh toys as a baby!" LOL Anyway hope this helps. :)

Its the lighting in the room not the color. Dim is the best.
