Come on, you're kidding right? From the first bug ever made, to the new Rabbit, TONS of guys AND girls drive VW's.

For instance, since the bug and thing were developed by Hitler for the German army, which probably had few women serving, the first people to drive VW's were men. Then, the Beetle, marketed and called "The Peoples Car" was designed to "comfortably" carry a German family of 5.

VW's are great cars and everyone drives them. Perhaps you should get out more.

The only girly model that is associated with VW is the cabrio. It just got that reputation. But I don't mind driving my daughter's 95 Cabrio when I get the chance. And as other previous posters pointed out, more men drive VW's than women. They are easy to work on and have a lot of power. My Jetta and her cabrio run just as they did the day they were new. And they are tanks. Both vehicles weigh over 3000 lbs and can take an accident better than most vehicles. Plus both cars get over 31 mpg.

Tell me one thing about the VW R32 that's girlie. I don't think you've done your research to well on this one.
I bet you're thinking about the Cabrio or Beetle. My suggestion is to not be so narrow minded on this. Do some research online and see what a folling VW has men.
At a recent VW get together, I felt a little out of place. Even though I was comfortable being there with my husband, I was one of a hand few of women there.

My husband and I own a 68 Bug in wonderful condition. My guy is definitely a "manly man" and has no problems driving around in the Bug. The new VW Beetle on the other hand, is more of a girlie car. My husband likes them, but doesn't think he would want one to drive, just has a feminine look, at least in his opinion.

As a true blue VW gal I've only dated guys who drove VW's and I kind of resent the implication that guys who drive VW's are wimps. I wouldn't call a supercharged converted 2.0L 16v with a 6-speed tranny under the hood of a VW Corrado G60 something a wuss would drive and drive well. But hey... to each their own.

It is a stereotype...but it only has to do with the Cabrios and the new Beetles. 100% chick cars. Unless they are tricked out cars.

Theres more guys that drive these vdubs then girls sure ull see women in beetles or golfs but jettas and passat and even touaregs men drive those i have a jetta and its no whimpy car i plan to remove the 4 cyl and put in a vr6. A vr6 is not made for sissys. Women can go drive civics with liitle lanmowers as engines.

I've known at least 3 times as many guys that owned VWs as girls.

Hi there! I also have a bug as well as a Honda Civic Hatch but I love my VW because it has more character. My 6-year old daughter loves it and calls it "Herbie". She likes riding in it better than our newer model cars even if it doesn't have airconditioning. I don't think it's a whimp's car that's a wrong perception. I have friends who drive a VW and they are sure no "Whimps!"

I've driven a 2000 VW NB for four years now and it's a great little car. Guys who need big cars are compensating for something.

I drive a 2003 Passat v6 wagon, two of my male friends have Passats too and another had a Jetta v6 wagon. Not just girls. I'm thinking of a GTi with a DSG next.
