Try downloading a free 45-day, fully functional, trial copy of Delta Cad 2D software. If you like it (it takes only a few days to get the knack of using it) a licensed copy is only $39.95.

It has almost NO bells and whistles, but it is very carefully designed. Once you start using it and begin to realize the logic behind the design it just gets better and better and easier and easier to use.

I've been using a licensed copy of version 5.0 for several years and plan to upgrade to version 6.0 later this week. It works so well for me that I didn't even know an upgrade was available until I went to their website to get the URL to answer your question!
