maybe a lighter shade of wine or maybe even a champagne color.

My wedding was this past Sept. and my bridesmaids also wore wine dresses. The maid of honor also wore the same dress. We wanted to keep everything simple, but elegant. The other colors that were used at our wedding was a charcoal color(dark silver), and creme. Others colors that would look great would be hunter, and navy. They would make a very beautiful fall wedding. Good Luck.

Usually, on the swatch card, the colors are listed from deepest to lightest or vice versa. Look either above or below the wine and see if that color matches. If not, is there any beading or different color threading on the dress? For example, a wine dress with silver threading. Try a silver color. Another idea, most people give themselves a headache with this color matching business. Sometimes colors just do not match, and no matter how hard you try to match, they will still look out of place. Do something different to her bouquet, or put a different color sash around her dress. Good luck!!

I'd go with gold, silver, or an ivory/off-white.
Those will help her stand out, and it'll be a beautiful match for the dresses. You could also put the best man in colors to match the MOH.
I wouldn't go with anything too dark or fall-like--that could totally clash with the wine color. (I'm assuming you're referring to a red wine color and not a white-wine/champagne color.)
You obviously chose the wine color because you love it and think it will be beautiful--and you don't want to take away from that. If nothing else, you could put her in a wine dress and get a silver/gold/off-white ribbon for her to wear around her waist (on top of the dress) to set her off--that will give her a little bit of color and distinction without being too drastic. David's Bridal (http://www.davidsbridal.com) has got a bunch of ribbon colors that you can choose from--she could get a ribbon for probably $20 if that's what you decide to go with.

Wine was the color of my bridesmaids dresses too! We were married September of 2001!
I had everyone where the same color and allowed them to choose their own dresses. I mostly did this because I wanted them to choose a style they thought would be best for their own individual body types. For the Matron of Honor, I asked her to wear a silky lacy shawl to seperate her from everyone else. I like you're idea of choosing another color though!
I think a champagne color, silvery hue, or possibly a lighter color of the wine would be a very elegant touch. But whatever you do, bring a sample of your color with you to the bridal shops and try to match it up with some of the colors they have on hand. Don't worry, you'll find something!!
Congratulations and good luck!!

I love the wine color for the bridesmaids...a great color combo would be wine and a gold or platinum...there are so many things that you could do also. Your MOH could pick a different style of dress, or wear something additional, like a shawl, to set her apart from the BMs. Have fun with it!!

The dresses could be a light green color, that way they will go with the greenery and the purple of the flowers, or you could use a light lavendar or purple colored dress that would also go with their flowers. Making sure that flowers and dresses go together is always a hard part but if need be bring the flowers that your thinking of using to a bridal shop and ask the person that works there what colors would best go with the flowers you've chosen

You can put your maid of honor in a complimentary color like cream, ivory or even a wine and silver dress. I think that she will stand out in those colors.
Good Luck!

a dark green would work but might look more christmas then fall. Chocolate brown would be an excellent option. Other options would be a gold, burnt orange or a cream color.
