I know it's illegal to have marajuna but what if we have a marajuna bush growing in our backyard?
But we didn't plant it there and were not smoking it?

first off how do you know its truely a pot plant? are you an expert in plant life?
next....sit it is on your property...doesn't matter if you planted it, smoked it or just stared at it. its on your property, its your property and you are held resonsbile for it...period.
each state has its own laws on pot, what is legal, not legal, amounts, etc. some are strict like texas...just a seed will get you jail time where places like ohio let you carry ounces around with only a fine.

First off, how do you know it is MJ? Have you some insight or just seen it on TV / Computer? Are you sure someone else in your family did not plant it? It is very likely that the cops have already begun checking you out since you mentioned a key word or phrase.
I understand that this stuff grows naturally throughout the world. You can either dig it up and toss it or call the cops and let them know you found some in your yard. If it is a female plant (yup, they come in both sexes), then it will contain THC, the stuff that gets you high! A male plant cannot do that. It is only good to make rope.
If you don't want to get involved, then just uproot it and let it die. If you have nothing to hide (at all), notify the coppers and they will handle things on their end. It is possible that this choice could mean you spend time being investigated (as well as everyone who writes back from here! Yeah, including me).
Your choice and BTW, I have no legal background ...

there are two things you can do #1 pull it up get throw it away far away.#2 Pull it up dry it out smoke it.If I did not work law enforcement i would do #2 but we get pp tests.I can tell you what will happen if the cops catch it at your house Even throw you did not plant or don't smoke it YOU WILL GO TO JAIL with a manufacturing charge and or possession for resale.So I will ask you what are you going to do.And do not call the police.

All you've established is your man or woman political bigotry. there is not any longer some thing contained in the article indicating no matter if that's a conservative, republican, or what. 2d, your argument with Ding is stupid. police officials and firemen supply a service and are paid for it. We actually have deepest police and firemen and we do not limit that. In Socialism, they DO limit deepest possession of nationalized industries. that's the important distinction. we are drained of Socialism, we are drained of the hatred and bigotry that they attempt to spread (thanks for affirming your position on that) and admittedly, they elect to leave my party (Democratic) till now they crash it thoroughly. i'm a Democrat, no longer a Socialist. That police officer will be a democrat. don't be stupid. as a lot as I hate to admit it, his better 1/2's father, the mayor, is a Democrat, so the possibilities of the police officer being a Democrat bypass way up.

The best thing for you to do is to call your local police department, explain the situation, and ask them to send someone out to dispose of it properly. This way there are no traces in your garbage or yard. It is actually a pretty common problem, usually in more rural towns.

The Police can Confiscate your home. Of course, that's a worse case scenario. Best thing is to pull it up, then give it to me.
Seriously, even though you didn't plant it and aren't using it, it's still on your property. You can either dispose of it yourself, and I would seriously be willing to take it off your hands for you, or you can even try calling the police. Though calling them (just explain the story to them) might not be so good. Depending on how they take it, it could go either way. Good or bad

Get rid of it in the trash or find someone who will take it away for you. If it is in your yard, it is yours in the eyes of the law.
Even here in Ohio where possesion is a misdemeaner, cultivation carries a stiff penalty.
