Are there different types of Bipolar?

I have heard that there are different types of bipolar disorder. Can anyone explain them? I am Bipolar so i am curious.

There are two major Bipolar types (I and II).. There are also some subsets. All have to do with type and frequency of mood changes. Doctors use something called the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual. You could get a copy and read all the choices, but then, if you're like me, you'll probably think that you fit all of them. Ask your doctor about it and he/she will be able to explain it clearly and to explain your particular diagnosis to you.

Some are worse then others. It's like how there are different types of autism, Bipolar Disorder has a spectrum, some are far worse and some aren't that bad. They are different though, because while they still show the same symptoms it wouldn't be fair to classify Sally as having Bipolar Disorder when hers is more along the lines of Cyclothmyia, just how it isn't fair to assume every Autisic Person has the same level of Autisim.

I am bipolar and yes, there are several kinds....please ask your physician and read lots of good information for your own and others' sake. Just type in the search line on the internet and you can find more material than you can even read.

You could want to kill yourself, you could want to sleep all the time, you could feel sad or alone even when you are in a room full of people, you could feel like killing everbody or most people, lastly you could go through all of these on any given time or day. I hope this helps you.

there is a bi-polar 1 and bi-polar 2. Not sure of the difference though.
