I took Paxil for about 6 years. It really helped but I started going through some hard times in my life and all of my depression and anxiety came back. I went to a dr and he changed me to a different antidepressant. I feel alot better now. I dont know if you take Paxil or Paxil XL but if you just take regular Paxil be careful if you get off of it. I had to have a drs help to get off. I started having withdrawls from paxil and felt awful..dizzy, tired, just bad all over. So make sure you talk to a dr about this. I know its not easy telling a dr about your depression and you dont want to sound crazy-believe me i know-but you have to get yourself feeling better. Depression is a horrible feeling and so are panick attacks. So please, go to a dr and see if they can change your meds.

Some medicines can have adverse reactions, or lose effectiveness over time. This can be dangerous because suicidal thoughts might occur. Tell your Dr. right away, and make an appointment to see him/her as soon as you can. Make a point of telling them what you have said here. Write it down and take it with you if you think you might forget or might not have time. You could also ask for a second opinion or a joint consultation with another Dr. or counselor.
More personally, perhaps the meds are dealing with the depression, but now the underlying causes are surfacing. It could be you have some work to do dealing with old hurts and traumas, and now is the time. Have you been having bad dreams or flashbacks? Have you suddenly been thinking about things you had forgotten about that upset or hurt you in the past? Counseling might help, but so will getting to the bottom of what's hurting you and dealing with the feelings you stuffed down all your life. Good luck : )

You are obviously not getting result from the Paxil. Are you under the care of a psychiatrist? If this is something prescribed by your family doctor, the dose, medication, or even the diagnosis might not be accurate. You probably need to try a new type of anti-depressant and undergo counseling to complement the pharmaceutical therapy.

It may be time to change your meds. It could be that you have built up a tolerance to the Paxil especially since you have a new baby and your body's hormones probably aren't back to normal yet. I would speak to your doctor and see if there are any other meds that might handle the panic attacks and the depression.

Sounds to me like postpartum depression. It may also be time to try something new. I'm on celexa and have had excellent results. I also went for short term counselling to learn to deal with my 'awfullizing' habits. I took the smallest little problem and turned it into a tragedy in my mind. Once I learned to let go and accept, my whole life changed. Don't feel guilty. There are groups online available for people like us. One of the ways I learned to get beyond the panics was to busy my mind.Think of anything else but what's bothering you. You are probably overwhelmed with all your responsibilities. Relax, get some help, and love yourself.

Go to antidepressantleagalcenter.com, I received an email about a lawsuit out if you have had such problems and Paxil was mentioned as one of the meds in question. Good luck!

Talk to your doctor, I would say that these symptoms are related to the medication or dosage. For me Paxil did some very similar things and we had to change meds.
Good Luck.

My advice is to seek a real good psychiatrist...perhaps you don't have one and perhaps an intern or ob-gyn put you on the medicine..lots of people who take antidepressant find that over a period of time, one particular one doesn't work.....please go back to your MD or find another one.
