So do I need long distance service for toll free numbers?

I guess its time to look for a new phone company... get Broadband....I never go back to a land-line...there are rip-offs...

Over the last three years I've had Verizon landline service w/ no primary long distance carrier. I've had my DirecTV receivers hooked up to it w/ no problems. I also make toll-free calls from my landline phone w/ no problems, and I have my home security system hooked up to the landline to dial out via toll-free number.
So you should have no problem making toll free calls w/o an associated long distance carrier.
