Saturday we got a new puppy. Today, 3 days later, she woke up w/ red bumps on her face, red hands, feet, & legs; none on her stomach or chest and only a little bit on her lower back. She stayed at my mom's house today, who also has a dog, took some benadryl, and was fine. Tonight, at our house, she has broke out again. So... is she allergic to dogs? Or maybe just our dog? Is it possible to grow out of? What else could it be? I've haven't changed anything else.

If your baby has never had a reaction from your mothers dog than more than likely it's not the dog. Could be fleas or like everyone else said start omiting things or take her to the doctors. Some doctors won't give allergy tests to babys but you can call them and ask but I would wait until she has an outbreak this way if the doc wants to see her right away he can see the rash first hand. When my son was about a year old he started breaking out and nothing would make it go away. It was milk. Ugh! good luck!

Where does she spend most of her time. She could be allergic to detergent you've washed her bedding in. Carpet stuff used on the floor. Could even be something she is eating. The benadryl took it away so she is allergic to something. Possibly maybe even perfume that you wear. Is there anything on the other dog that may be breaking her out like flea treatments or something. You may just have to play trial or error and see just what it is that breaks her out.

You need to do some troubleshooting. Does she lay on the carpet? If so, then try to keep her on a hard surface like a linoleum or hardwood floor and see if it happens.

Do you use anything on your carpet, like deodorizer? Does she do it in a crate, with a blanket?

Separate her from the other dog for a few days and see what happens.

Doggie allergies can be brutal. My best friend has a Golden Retriever that is allergic to grass!! He has to be on steroids all summer long as he breaks out constantly.

It probably is an allergy to dogs. Take her to the pediatrician and he will test her for allergies. It could also be something in your house. The benadryl is okay for now maybe but she will need to be put on something stronger. If her allergy is really bad, you may have to find another home for your dog.

One good possibility towards alergies could be fleas. I had a border collie that was allergic to fleas. She got benadryl and a gel to bathe her in but my vet new more about it.

More likely, she could be allergic to her food. Definitely check for fleas, as well, they can cause allergies too.
