I actually do know of two different couples who are now married, who met over the internet. One couple has been married for nearly six years and as far as I know, they're happy! And the other couple just got married in June but I think they're doing very well. :-) So yes it can happen...but I still would be very careful. The internet allows for such a high degree of anonymity that sometimes it's hard to know exactly who you are really "getting to know." These friends of mine just happened to find one another...the couple who just got married actually met through eHarmony.com, which I hear is a pretty good dating website with lots of success stories. So have fun but be careful, is the take home message. If the person lives overseas, I'd think that it would be not impossible, but very difficult. You have so many things to take into consideration: language barrier, distance (obviously), cultural differences, religious differences...etc. How and where would you meet? If you decide to stay together, where would you live? One of you would have to relocate to another country which is no small thing! So I guess that too could happen, but I think it would be extremely hard. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Hope this helps. :)

People can find affection for another person on-line. But it is nearly impossible to really love someone who you have never met. Love is not just a feeling. The word love is a verb. It requires actions. Love can be shown by taking care of someone when they are sick, or by being with someone while they are sad. Giving back rubs and other gifts can show love. These things and many other ways of showing love cannot be done over the Internet. It is easy to share words of affection over the Internet, but physically doing acts of love is much harder. You have to deal with the persons traits that may annoy you, and you will certainly let each other down once in a while. Love requires sacrifice and compromise, but it is well worth it.

I think you can meet and fall in love over the internet. But for it to last (and be "true"... however you want to define that) means that it has to eventually move into the real world. There are people I've known on the internet who fell in love and ended up meeting each other. They continued their courtship in real life (some of them even moved to another country for their internet love) and yes, some of these internet couples ended up getting married.

I believe true love can grow from someone you meet on the internet or anywhere else...But you do not and can not "fall" in love over the internet...Falling inplies chance and fate,,love is a decision based on knowing and spending time,,quality time with someone......just my two cents....

i think once you have become good friends and know alot about him and what he looks like, then you can decide to meet up somewhere and talk, but i dont think its a god idea to become boyfriend and girlfriend over the internet.. Its not safe and its very dangerous... Yet, it could be cool... if it was like, Michael Jackson or Madonna, or Prince that is a WAY different story man!

I met my wife over the internet.
We're happily married now, but I don't recommend doing it that way. We faced some major difficulties because of it. We almost went through a divorce, and I'm convinced it was largely because of the way we met.

My brother met his wife online, and so far they're really happy. Of course, they dated a while after meeting in person before getting married, though.

yes, yes, yes and yes.
I met my husband online, we dated for 7 months, he lives in england and I'm in Canada, but he's moving to Canada, not just for me, but he's always wanted to come here, but had no motivation till he met me. So after we dated for 7 months, we got married, and have been happily married for over 5 months.

No I don't believe in true love over the internet.
How can you be in love with someone you've never even met?
I don't think any one should meet over the net because you don't
exactly know what type of person you are talking to.
