Hi, I offended an online friend whom I've befriended for 8 months. I was upset with him, so I decided to play some pranks on him. I made a confession about 2 weeks ago, and yesterday he IMed me telling me he was very upset and wanted to end our friendship. I was devastated, and I cried a lot last night. My eyes are swollen now. I tried to apologize to him as many times as I could, but I don't know if I stand any chance to have his forgiveness. I know I screwed things up, and I deserved the consequences. But I really don't want to lose him as a friend!!! Typing this detail makes me cry again. I'm really sorry for having done that to him, and I don't know what else I can do now. Please help me. I truly value his friendship. Please help!!!

You need to back off him for a while, he is hurting too. Give it a few weeks then see if you can patch things up. You never know, after that time, he may well find it in his heart to forgive you. Just don't flood his in-box with 'I'm sorry's' because that might make you look like a stalker or something.

I think your online friend need some space to think and to cool off. Give him a day or two. If you live nearby, why don't you drop by in person and apologize versus calling him by phone. If you don't live nearby, why not apologize through a webcam - this way, you both can see eachother. Just apologize and how truly sorry you are. He'll either forgive you or not. Good Luck!!

see perfect example of you dont know what you had till you lost it. Girl you better keep apolizing if he meant that much to you and you shouldnt go around pranking people you care about, save that for the other people not your good friends. Some people take things to the next level and although your intentions may not be for such a reaction, you never know what someone thinks or feels.

You obviously didn't value his friendship very much when you pulled your pranks. We all have to pay the price and consequences of our actions. Learn to cope.

Is he an online friend only? Cut your losses. It's ok. Make some friends outside the internet, it will be a lot easier.

forgiveness is a value, so if he can´t be able to forgive you maybe he wasn´t that great of a friend.
But tel him what you had told us, in fact copy and paste him this answer.
Then tell him you are going to give him some time, to think things over, and ask himself if your friendship is worth his forgiveness
and wait, if he does not forgive you, then move on.

What you can do is tell him what made you upset in the first place and then tell him that you are really truly sorry.

Tell him exactly what you just said in your question...
How far apart are you geographically / physically ?
Can you make arrangements to meet him personally or
at least call by phone ?
