i had my tonsils removed today and i feel pretty good except for the intense throat pain. the main problem is, it is very swolen and i am afraid it might seal since the walls are so close. Also i am not sure what to do to sleep better because of that fact. i can't barely breath through my mouth or my left nostril, which also had surgery inside today. i am putting ice ouside my throat and eating ice also. what else can i do?please help. thank you:)

Hi! You really should call your Primary Care doctor if it feels that bad. I'm sure that the person who took out your tonsils also gave a number to call if something like that happened. I would recommend you call that number as soon as possible or go to the emergency room. The removal of tonsils is a common procedure these days, so you shouldn't be experiencing these complications if they are this uncomfortable for you. Good health and good luck!

If you're that worried, call your doctor.

Personally, I've never heard of anyone dieing of asphyxiation (not being able to breathe) b/c of a swollen throat due to a tonsillectomy (having tonsils removed).

Worry can make things worse, so like I said, if the worry is keeping you awake, get hold of your doc, he/she will ease your fears, maybe suggest additional things you can do to bring the swelling down.
