Ugh my 1 year old cat, Paris, is to the point where my mom & I are about to find her a new home. She uses the litter box but then she still goes & pees in random spots in her house.
I don't know why this is .. no other cats use the litter [our other cats are almost always outside but Paris prefers indoors]. She is fixed, healthy, & has no behavior issues other than this. But if she doesn't stop, we'll have to give her away b.c we can't take her peeing everywhere .. its sooo gross.
Does anyone have any clue what I can do ?? Have your cats ever done this & how did you correct the problem ?!!!
Thanks.. =)

The make this cat liter called "Cat Attract" that is supposed to draw a cat to go in the literbox. Try it and see it that works.

First do you use urine remover in the spots she has marked? If not she will continue to pee there. She is probably marking out territory. Has something changed? New food, New cats? I had a cat that did this when we got a new kitten. The best plan is to restrict her access to other areas of the house until she has calmed down. Close doors, keep her isolated in one area until she learns to only use the litter box. But you must make sure that the areas of the house that she has soiled have been cleaned with a urine odor remover, not just household cleaner, because it will still retain the smell of urine and will attract her to urinate there again. Also make sure that the box is well maintained. Have you changed the litter lately?

Cats must start out like this. Make sure the cat knows its 'boundaries' of the house--set up temporary walls (the baby walls used to limit babies' space). After a few days, or maybe a couple weeks, you begin its training. You first must obtain its favorite treat (try experimenting with store-bought treats). Then, as it shows sign of restroom--circling, uncertaintity or eccenctric alertness, bring it to the box. If it goes to the restroom out of the litterbox, spray a bit of water on it. Prefferably a small one. Do not use any special cat litter--in fact, regular sand or dirt is better than the store-bought ones. It will smell funny awhile, but it will help your cat stop going to the restroom around your house. It will slowly, but eventually learn how to use a litter box.
PS Most cats are already trained to use the litter box, though some aren't they WILL be domesticated.

sometimes cats that have a bladder or uninary tract infection will urinate in spots other than the litter box. She may be trying to tell you something is wrong. Take her to the vet and rule out a medical problem before you just get rid of her. If it is behavioral it will be harder to correct...any changes in the home lately that may have upset her? A move, a new pet or child, etc.?

Do you keep moving the litter box around? Or have you changed the kind of litter recently? Cats also want to mark their territory, so if you're using a cleaner that has ammonia in it, it might alter the scent of it, so it smells differently.

i did have this problem once. i locked my cat with her box, food and water in the bathroom for 2 days. while she was in there i cleaned everywhere, changed the soil in the plants etc. to get rid of her scent everywhere. when i let her out, i followed her everywhere and stopped her when she showed too much interest in her fav spots. when i couldn't follow her (night time and work) she went back in the bathroom. after about a week she was fine and i haven't had any more trouble in 13 yrs.

Is she spayed? She may possibly have a UTI. Urinary Tract infection. Ever had one? You feel like ya gotta pee all the time. Consitency of cat litter? some cats perfere clay over clumping. To "perfume-y"? Maybe the litter smells a little too much like air freshener for her. 2 litter pans-one to pee in, one to poo in...

You should probably take your cat to a psychoanalyst.
He will help your cat find the root reason of its peeing issue.
