what I mean is, if I use some vanilla body wash, of course, tomarrow morning you won't be able to smell it obviously, but can a nose pick up the scent enough so that the person can feel something different about you?

Can a scent of vanilla change your mood and how others feel about you?

Depends on the person attached to the nose- I personally like vanila, so I may sub-conciously feel differently about someone who still smells faintly of vanila...

The sense of smell IS the most sensitve of all human senses- like taste, the olfactory nerve in your nose senses chemical variations, but unlike the tounge, your nose doesn't have to be in actual physical contact!

It's the first sense to develop. Researchers have found that a baby will calm down faster when Mommy's holding him/her than someone else... Someone else still works pretty effectively if they're wearing something that smells like Mommy- her perfume, body wash, shampoo, B.O.... whatever.

I've also heard that it's the sense most closely related to memory.. have you ever caught a whiff of something and it jogs a memory- something you haven't thought about in a LONG time or something you thought you'd forgotten?....

Which brings me back to your question... If your intended "target" has old memories or feelings associated with the smell of vanila, you may bring those to the surface... hope they're happy memories!!

Yes they can, I use this technique all the time, however I use the spice Cinnamon I put a bit in my hair, and the difference in peoples attitudes certainly changes for the better. I am a Colour Therapist and you are quite correct in saying that smells (and colours) can change your mood and how others feel about you. I can be in a room painted a certain and I can actually smell the colour of that room. You appear to be someone special, don't loose that part of you, we need people in the world like you. You have great insight.
