i have an ipod cable to use with your home stereo thats hooked up to my sony reciever but sound is not coming from all speakers just the front left and the subwoofer.
any reasons why its not working? please help

You didn't provide enough information to answer you fully.
Is your right channel even getting any signal? Where did you hook it up to? Usually, stereo systems have independent L and R channel inputs. Is your ipod cable going to both or just one?
You need to split the wire into L and R and feed them independently if that's not what you are already doing.

Try changing the surround sound mode to 5-channel stereo.
