Nope, spanish speakers use jajaja (ha ha ha), jejeje (he he he), or jijiji (hee hee hee) a lot. Interestingly, I've been told that in portuguese they use RSRS, but I'm not sure what, if anything, it stands for...

yes we have an expression ( in Mexico al least ) but not an abbreviation it is not polite but we use it a lot colloquially.
