I am an African American woman and I'm ready to put individual braids in my hair. I have did this before but I have a problem. My braids don't come out flat the way they are suppose to. They are crooked and twisted looking. What am I doing wrong? HELP

Its probably down to the texture of your hair and not so much about what you're doing wrong.

speak with a hairdresser or someone who is knowledgeable about African American hair and works in a beauty supply store they'll be able to help and recommend products to assist you in your efforts.

I've worn braids for years and if you don't braid all in one direction this can happen. Either braid over hand or under hand all the down the braid,and make sure you use the same amount of hair for each braid. Don't braid too tight, which can cause twisting from the tension.

Sometimes, if you pull on one strand more than others, they can get twisted up and mangled-lookin.... Pull on each strand evenly.

do you get it done at a salon?
if you dont then try that
