It is what it is -- six megapixels.

Pixel dimensions of 2816x2112 would be (approx.) 6MP. Six megapixels just means (approx.) six million pixels. If you multiple 2816 pixels by 2112 pixels, you get over 5.9 million pixels (but about 52,000 pixels shy of 6 million). So maybe there are 6MP cameras that will give you a little more than 6 million -- if so, you probably wouldn't notice the difference.

You're not going to get noticably higher resolution with a 6.0 MP camera; get much higher than 6 million pixels and it will be marketed as a 6.1 MP (or higher) camera.

6 MP is a good minimum amount these days (which is perfect for most people).
However, just because the camera has 6 megapixels, doesn't automatically mean it has good image quality.
Photographic quality is determinded by the type of lens used and also the processor and sensor inside the camera. How fast the camera operates and takes photos, as well as battery life, can also be a deciding factor in a new camera purchase.
There are many other 6 MP cameras available that have better image quality than the Olympus.
Check out the review in the link below (especially the Conclusions part) and you will see what I mean.
And then maybe take a look at Canon.

Multiply 2816 by 2112 and you get 5 947 392 which is just slightly less than 6 million pixels (or 6 MP)

The other thing to consider is the aspect ratio, yours is 0.75 which is perfect for making 6 x 4 or A4 prints. It is not quite right for 8 x 10 prints. Not the end of the world just something to think about.

That's the definition of 6MP. Good is very relative - depends what you want to do with the picture. Remember when 3MP cameras were the shiz? 6 is great for most everybody.

for viewing on computer monitor or HDTV or for use on web pages, the quality is good. The quality is great if you don't print bigger than 8"x10". For prints bigger than that, you may need more pixels (quality).
