It is hard to say how long it will last. It varies from person to person. I had it for some weeks after i had my 2nd child and it lasted about 2 months. The best way i got over it was talking to a councillor who helped heaps, sometimes this rights itself and other times it may take medication. The best thing to do is find someone to listen to your feelings. Or if you know someone going through it offer them some help or a shoulder if they need it. You don't need to do anything too big to help even the smallest thought goes a long way.

The word postpartum means the period after giving birth. Usually the postpartum period lasts for about 2 weeks. Having said that the risk of postnatal depression is still high for about 6 weeks postpartum and about 50% women get baby blues

My son, I had nothing. With my daughter, I'm still on depression pills & she is 5 months old. It just varies with every woman, I just have alot more hormones this time around. It WILL go away! That is the most comforting thing about it!Good Luck Sweetheart!

well i thought i was suffering post partum, and it turned out i was hypo thyroid. Pregnancy does numbers on your body...you need to check these tings out. I begged for anti depressants 2 months after my son was born, but my doc told me to have my thyroid checked first...unless i was suicidal.....she wanted to rule tings out first!

i never had it. sorry. just remember its a baby. and he/she needs love..if it gets too much for u at the time, if the baby is crying and gettin to u...just put him/her in their bed and shut the door..go turn up the stereo and take a moment. as long as ur child is changed and feed it wont hurt to let the child cry
