i've been through at least half a dozen sites that all scan my computer but wont actually remove the corrupted files unless i pay for it. Are there any out there that will actually remove the files for free?

Search "Adaware"
Download adaware: Its a free spyware removal program and one of the most popular in the world. Works good and is fast
I also suggest going to the same website and searching "Spybot - Search and Destroy"
Pretty much does the same thing but when both paired, they do very well.

There will be others that come up as ads, but make sure you go to the spybot search & destroy link.
It's great, and it's free.
