I've had several Econolines, and 2 of them conversions. They are exceptionally reliable. Don't expect any gas mileage, tha best I got with a conversion was around 12 mpg. (9-10 for a raised roof model)

I haven't had a conversion, but I've put close to a million miles on Econolines with very little trouble. They're good sold vehicles. The 302 is a little underpowered.

In general, yes. The main components of this van have remained essentially unchaged for decades. It's a proven design that's withstood the test of time. The vehicle should be good for several hundred thousand miles, under good care.
