Like any other job, some are and do and some aren't and don't.

In general, the soldiers I've known have been quite smart and together and do well. Some of them are doing very well since retirement, making more per month than most pay in taxes in a year, which is so opposite of what they were making in the military. Their training and the way they learn to work for what they want generally puts them ahead of much of the population in that respect.

Anyone who would suggest that people are in the military because they aren't smart enough to do anything else is a moron and doesn't know what real intelligence is.

Seriously Get over what Kerry Said anyone with brains knows that if you go to college and get a degree you wont get stuck in Iraq. I feel that is just being HONEST. Why do you think most of those guys join the military. They dont know what else to do. Then there are those who want to fight in the war for their country. But obviously they aren't in college, because they aren't allowed to do college while deployed. Im a proud marine wife, but I know the **** my husband goes through! I beleive there are good and bad, and some confussed. Some military join not having any goals or dreams. Some aren't motivated to pull rank. Others do good, pull rank and are moto. I have seen good marines and a lot of marines mess up by drinking all the time, Geting kicked out by poping on drug tests. I can honestly say those marines make other marines who are moto look bad.

Some do, some do not! Many, if not most simply meld back into society, get married, work, and raise their kids, eventually they retire if the Good Lord is shining down on them. Some even live to a ripe old age and get to see their grand kids grow up.

The success many of them enjoy is knowing they were there, when the country needed them. They develop a value system, that many who have never served, cannot comprehend! They rarely take life for granted and are usually thankful for the most simple things in life. When misfortune and poor health overwhelm them, they say thank you for the life they were able to live, when so many others were left on the killing fields for their return home in a body bag. Yeah, I'd have to say they were smart to appreciate this, and successful for recognizing the gift they were given!

Any one who puts his training to good use will usually succeed, but of course some don't as in other fields, some people go to college and get a masters degree and still are in a low paying job with no chance for advancement, as they don't want responsibility or to move up, It doesn't make sense to me but that is the way it is

Alot of them are very smart and such, but the military sometimes doesn't give experiences or training they can use in civilian jobs..

Like Special Operations are very smart people, but they will never use that experience in a civilian job like a teacher, doctor, game designer, maybe a security worker, but nothing like a doctor...

but they are very smart, and even people who go through colleage and are very smart enlist for their country..
I always thought John Kerry was better then Bush, but I kind of see differently now..

Silly question, thats like asking if all black people like fried chicken and cocaine. Each person is different... If you want to succeed in this mortal life bow down to the jews and become a lucifer worshiping mason... You will then be advanced in all areas of society but incur the full wrath of God upon death.
