What are the standard emergency room tests doctors request to detect infections in the blood?

it depends on what they think you have...if you have a bad cough they would order a chest x-ray...for a sore throat they might order a CBC (complete blood count) it all depends on why you are there...and the state of your emergency...

A CBC, CMP, UA. If fever or obvious signs of infection, blood cultures x 2.

they do not test for hepatitis c in a regular lab. the regular lab might however, show something indicative, but thats about it.
