I didn't get a chance to see his ko win over Sergei Liakhovich Saturday night so just wondering if anyone saw it and is Briggs a legit threat to unify the belts? He's had a up and down career. I heard that the fight was pretty boring until the knock out.

Shannon Briggs looked like trash. If Lyakhovich won the last round or if that last round was a draw, Lyakhovich wins by decision! He KO'd Lyakhovich with 1 second left.

The whole fight he threw 1 punch at a time. He wasn't in shape. I think maybe he's TOO big. He reminds me of Bob Sapp. All you have to do is stay away early and get him tired.

Briggs was ready to go down himself in the last round of that fight and he didn't really take many big clean shots.

If he had any stamina he may be good, but he doesn't.

This whole fight was just boring. It looked like he did NO road work at all. He would get Lyakhovich in trouble with 1 punch and then wouldn't follow him to finish, even in the early rounds. The fans were booing the fight every round.

The announcers were practically screaming at him to follow up when he got Lyakhovich in trouble.

You'll see, even when Briggs was in better shape, as in the Lewis fight, he comes out really good early but after the first couple rounds he's out of gas.

I think he might be able to beat Maskaev but Valuev and Klitschko would beat the crap out of him, so no way he unites the titles.

I fully expect Emanuel Steward, Klitschko's trainer, to push for a fight with Briggs.

This was without a doubt the worst heavyweight fight I ever saw. Briggs could hardly get his breath after round three. At times there were less than 10 puncges thrown in a round by both fighters. The crowd in Phoenix bood from round one til the end. All Briggs could do was try to counter the other guys punches with big and quick left hooks. He hurt the other guy once in about the 6yh round but was almost too tired to try to take him out. In the 10th round the european guys manager told him in no uncertain terms " you are not going to knock Briggs out so win the fight by boxing and getting the decision. The fool didn't listen and got knocked out, and out of the ring when the referee stopped the fight at 2:59 of the 12th round. The whole thing kind of looked like a Don King fixer upper so that Briggs would get one more payday and then give a return to the euro guy, I will guarantee you that Briggs will not win another pro fight. He was 260 pounds and looked muscl bound beyond believe.. It was a terrible fight and made boxing, espcially heavyweight to look like bums who wouldn't last 2 minutes with an ultimate fight fighter.

Y'know honestly if there was a 'threat' a tyson, lennox lewis, or even a gerry cooney, I could say, heck naw, he ain't a threat. But uh.. with the weird promotions of fights & boxers ducking this & that & so & so calling out such & such and blase blah, honestly, he could technically be considered a threat. But not a real unifying one, if that's what you're wondering....
