The stomach flu is caused by norovirus. norovirus is a pretty big family of viruses. Similarly to the common cold, if you get noro once, chances are you will run into it again but in a form just different enough to be unfamiliar to your immune system. Then you get sick again, and it's no fun.

Predominant symtpoms of norovirus infection are diarrhea, vomiting and cramps. Fevers are rare and usually low. Also, people tend to feel tired and lose their appetites. Doctors often misdiagnose norovirus because not very many labs will test for it. Oftentimes, people who get sick with noro don't even bother seeing a doctor because the sickness lasts 1 or 2 days.

Noro is EXTREMELY contagious. The virus particles can aerosolize when you are vomiting or having diarrhea. This can contaminate a bathroom and get other people (who share your bathroom) ill. If you are sick with norovirus, you must wash your hands thoroughly with soap and hot water. Disinfect any rooms contaminated with diarrhea or vomit using a bleach solution. And don't touch other people's food!

There is no cure for norovirus. You cannot take antibiotics for it. You simply have to keep hydrated and wait for it to go away.

It depends on what caused your "stomach flu" in the first place. If it was a virus you will normally produce antibodies to it and you can't catch the same strain again. But you can get a different strain (like different models of cars, all cars but different kinds) and get sick again right after the first time.

The other possibility is that it was caused by bacteria and you need antibiotics for that, to kill it. If you didn't take any or didn't finish all of them, you can get sick again. You can also get sick again with the same thing as soon as you get off the antibiotics. You don't get "immune" from bacteria. You can get reinfected again and again.

So I would suggest you go to the doctor to find out exactly what it is you have and what to do about it. A lot of things can make you have those symptoms. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.

As others have mentioned it is most likely the nortovirus. You can also look at food poisoning. I had this happen once with some prepared foods that I had frozen. I keep getting sick about the same time as the stomach bug was going around, but eventually found the culprit and threw it out. You should go to the doc. and get checked out to make sure it is not something else and they can prescribe meds that will make you feel better. Best of luck and I hope you get well soon.

Ther is no such thing as the stomach flu or stomach virus. If you have picked up some type of bacteria yes you can get it again if the bug is still in your system. Hence why you should take all the aantibiotics till all they are all gone not stop when you begin to feel better.

you'll be able to certainly not get in poor health two times from the equal virus. But, it CAN mutate into one other kind and are available again to you at the rebound. So watch out! your frame has constructed up antibodies towards it. If you are REALLY run down it is feasible, however highly not going.

Till you get a new diagnosis from your doctor; ensure you're having some water, to keep your body hydrated; that's real important. I hazard a guess that your system hadn't really shaken off that bug; and it's come back full force.
But I'd want to check with a doctor to ensure it's not bacterial, and for peace of mind.
Do not delay.

Yes. Be very careful to avoid dehydration. Stay away from dairy products. Try sticking to the "BRAT" diet for a few days and see if it clears up. If not, seek a doctor's advise.
