My 3 yr old doesn't mind at all. She gets into things she has been spanked for continuously. You would think, after 1 or 2 spankings, she would learn she can't do that, but she doesn't. You can spank her, 5 mins later, she's at it again. These are things she knows she is not allowed to have. Also, she can't keep her hands to herself, always grabbing things she knows she isn't supposed to have. We have tried everything....spankings, talking to her, time outs and nothing is helping her. There are times when it gets so bad, I just feel like I can't be around her because I'm at my wits end. I feel soon, if this doesn't stop, I'm going to have a nervous breakdown.

You aren't going to like my answer, but your three year old is acting like a three year old. You are the one with the problem. Please, for your own sake as well as the child's, go get some therapy and parenting classes. Abusing a child with spankings for acting like a three year old is wrong. You need help. You've made the first step towards this with your posting. Things can get better if you get in to action. Get going!

I have a three-year-old daughter also and I am going through the same thing. I was frustrated like you until I read about the behaviors of 3 yr. olds and found out that the things she does such as her smart mouth and stubborness are just what they do at that age and spankings won't help. Whatever she's getting into just put it out of her reach. Be firm with her when she does something that she shouldn't and explain to her why it is wrong. Other than that you just have to tell yourself this is what she is going to do, it's a phase and she'll grow out of it.

my son is the same way..... it is the terrible 3's! Usually what works for a little while is sending him to his room to sit on his bed without his tv on or toys to play with. He will come and apologize after awhile, but I don't agree with the last answer that he's being a three year old and you need therepy! she's crazy!!! it doesn't mattter how old a child is they need to know right from wrong! being three isn't an excuse! and a spankin isn't abuse!!!!!!!!!!

I had that problem when my girl was 3. If you can't deter her, try and make what she is doing inaccessible. Move it or her. Block the area off what ever works. She is pushing her independence. Unfortunately, 3 yr olds are more stubborn that we are patient.

I went through this two months ago with my son. It was just awful. But, it's the threes!
Try to get away if you can. Overnight, maybe two or three if possible. It will give you a fresh outlook, and give her a chance to miss her Mommy. Kids get sick of us too!
Good Luck, sweetie! She'll come around!

You can "try everything" and never be consistant !! It only takes a child of this age 3 days to develope a new habit !!
Be persistant and consistant !!
Do not threaten and not follow through !!
Kid's know what works for them !!
Figure out what works for you !!

they really should update Dr.Spock... Terrible Threes!!
Attention= acting out, so sit her down and don't react, if she sees your not gonna flip out she will stop, don't let her push you over the edge, parenting is one tough road.
