Im 17 but ill be 18 by the time i go, ill be going to New York where the legal age is 21 i think, if i were to pack some alcohol and get through customs on the UK end, would the customs on the NY end raise any kind of alarm to it or throw me in the can for smuggling?

best take your booze with you
They have just banned internett gambling with the UK.
By the time you get there they will probably have reintroduced prohibition again.

And god only knows what else.

Every visitor more than 21 years of age may bring in, free of duty, 1 liter (33.8 fl. oz.) of wine or hard liquor. If you plan on sneaking in alcohol, don't go over that amount or else you may be in even bigger trouble.

They should just seize the alcohol if you are underage but lots of people have been able to get away with it anyway because no one ever asked them for proof of age. But, there's the whole issue of bringing liquids on airplanes now (especially from the UK) which will make it harder to get away with even if you check your luggage. A lot of people reported that alcohol that was kept (legally) in their luggage has 'gone missing' or been broken by the time they got to the US since they restricted what could be carried on board.

I guess you could try it but I never would. I don't think it's worth the worry. It 's not totally impossible to get your hands on alcohol in NYC when your underage.

u can still buy booze from asian corner shops. most of them dont care how old u are as long as u got money. if that doesnt work just steal them from the supermarkets there. seriously, u cant get in trouble for shop lifting there because ur a foreigner. theyll just send u back to the uk which u are goin back anyway.

They would confiscate it. Best idea, get someone in US to buy you booze - how stressless is that.
