The Qur'an recognizes the Bible as the word of God, plus a little extra added by men, and thus corrupted. However, the subject of a future savior dominates the language and subject matter of the Old Testiment. How does the Islamic world translate that, or do they choose to ignore it?

I know that Jesus is only regarded as a faultless human being, not equivilent with divinity, and a prophet in Islam. I also know that the Muslims at one point were friendly (so to speak) with the Jews because of their common stance on Jesus and polytheism, but that their neutral ties were severed when the Muslims expected the Jews to recognize an Arab savior ("The Longman Anthology World Literature vol B, pg 406).

Thanks for any help you can provide.

In response to some comments, I want to stress the difference between a "prophet" and a "savior". Yes, the Qur'an recognizes no other prophets after Muhammed. My question is does the Qur'an recognize a savior?

God Almighty saved Jesus(peace and blessings of God on him), and raised Jesus alive.
God will send Jesus(pbuh) again before the end of this earth. And he will lead worshipers of Almighty, and kill Dajjal(antiChrist), and other non beleivers.
There are indications from sayings of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh), that Jesus(pbuh), will remain with worshipers of The God for few years and provide guidance to worshipers of Almighty God.
He will spent a married life, and finally will die. And He will be buried along side with Prophet Muhammad. [ THERE IS ONE SPACE SPECIALLY LEFT FOR MIGHTY AND RESPECTED PROPHET JESUS(PBUH). ]

May Allah give us wisdom to us or our nest generations to recognize Jesus(pbuh) and follow him and his companions of that time.

I personally pray for my self if I find hime in my life (God knows best), I wish to be in team of his companions. Ameen.

May Allah bless us all. Ameen.

As far as I know, there is no 'future savior' . But u could say 'future savior' in the sense that Jesus Christ (PBUH) will come to kill the anarchist as Poki Poki answered you. But remember, then he will say that he is not a prophet but a follower of the teachings of Prophet Mohammad

but that their neutral ties were severed when the Muslims expected the Jews to recognize an Arab savior

The jews believed that they were the descendants of prophets. They were aware (thru their scripture of old testament) that a Last Prophet will come. N this Last Prophet will come around this time (around the time when Prophet Mohammad ). But when they saw that this prophet was not from themsleves (jews) they were angred. Some said that he is a false prophet. Some said that the angel Gabriel made a mistake n went to the wrong man/side to deliver prophethood.
At this point, the disagreement between jews n muslims come.

The Muslims ARE expecting a Messiah of sorts. He's called the 12th Imam. He's supposed to come an bring peace to the world. He's also supposed to create a Muslim regime that will rule the world. The current Iranian president (forgot his name, or even if president was his title) is creating unrest in the Middle East so that he can usher in the Imam's coming.

Peace be with you,

We as Muslims are as well waiting for the return of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him, Isa is his Arabic name) and then become our Saviour by defeating the Anti-Christ.

When the angels said, "Maryam, your Lord gives you good news of a Word from Him. His name is the Messiah, 'Isa, son of Maryam of high esteem in this world and the hereafter, and one of those brought near. He will speak to people in the cradle, and also when fully grown, and will be one of the righteous," she said, "My Lord! How can I have a son when no man has ever touched me?"

He said, "It will be so. Allah creates whatever He wills. When He decides on something He just says to it, 'Be!' and it is. He will teach him the Book and Wisdom, and the Torah and the Injil…" (Surah Al 'Imran: 45-48)

When Allah said, "'Isa, I will take you back and raise you up to Me and purify you of those who are disbelievers. And I will place the people who follow you above those who are disbelievers until the Day of Rising. Then you will all return to Me, and I will judge between you regarding the things about which you differed. (Surah Al 'Imran: 55)

Yes, Jesus Christ (pbuh) will save humanity from the Antichrist when he returns and kills him.

so we do believe Jesus (pbuh) is the Messiah.
---

edit:
a savior in that sense that he'll end tyranny and evil and will bring peace to humanity for a while before the end of days.

but as far as washing away sins with his blood, the answer is no we don't believe that Jesus (pbuh) washed away any body's sins the only one who's able to forgive and washes away sins is God ALONE the creator, he created us and to him we will return.

perhaps the clarification Christianity made no experience replaced into because of the fact you have been listening to what persons advised you approximately it. many human beings have twisted perceptions of Christianity.. in case you bypass to God your self by using his be conscious, the Bible, and particularly look for him, i'm constructive you will locate what you have continually been finding for. What did no longer make experience to you? As a Bible believing Christian, i'm open to respond to any questions you have. the only thank you to God is by using Jesus Christ. he's the way, the certainty, and the existence, and the only faith that relatively is wise and does no longer contradict itself.

Muslims believe that they are saved by works done for allah, however good or howmany good works they have done they still dont have full assurance of salvation. The answer to your question is no they do not believe in a saviour at least not in the same aspect of Christianity.
