only in america do we have so much food that some people even get allergic to it.
you will never ever find someone in afghanistan or somalia or ethiopia who's "lactose intolerant" or allergic to peanuts
besides, if people know that they are allergic to peanuts, they shouldnt eat them, and if they dont know, well, its one hell of a place to find out

One of the main reasons I believe peanuts are not served on board is cause a lot of people these days are dangerously allergic to any sorts of nuts on board

Looks like everyone already answered the question. Southwest gives out little packages with cookies and peanuts on long flights.

I've heard that with so many people allergic to peanuts, that it became a liability for airlines to have them on flights.
I do mean liability in all senses of the word, including Legally. With so many people eager to sue for whatever reason, the carriers have decided to do away with the risk.

They still do serve them. I was flying not to long ago, and I got peanuts. Sometimes they don't serve them though because lots of people are allergic to them.

I am pretty sure it has something to do with the people who have allergies to peanuts....
I know what you mean, I love those, my grandmas friend use to work for United Airlines and he would always bring a ton of them to me and my sister~ brings me back to my childhood.

In addition to cost, a lot of people are allergic to peanuts; airlines have switched to pretzels (yuck!).

turns out lots of people and especially kids are allergic to peanuts. for legal and safety reasons, as well as cost they were cut out.
honestly, would you have paid more for your ticket if you would get peanuts? i don't think so. and they know that, too.
