i would go to Joe Allen's around 10:00 p.m. good food and drinks-celebrities dine here after the plays let out! Then go to Elaine's for more of the same! need reservations for both!

If you are talking about New York City - then you would go out to a bar of your liking with your friends!
There are plenty to choose from: sports bars, cool lounges, Irish pubs, mega clubs....really whatever you are looking for.
Personally, I try and avoid the really trendy areas (like the Meatpacking District) and go someplace a little more low keys where my friends and I can hang out and have fun.
