The prefix "a" doesn't mean indifferent. It is essentially the same as the prefix "non" and sometimes means "without".
The word "asexual" (when used meaning an indifference to sex) is actually a bit of a misnomer. Literally, "asexual" means lacking a physical sex (like bacteria).

Learn your etymology. "a" at the beginning of a word means "without". a-theism mean without the belief in god(s)
