I have short hair, but I am going to grow it out long then cut it all off again. I was going to donate to Locks of Love or Wigs for Kids, but after talking to some people I thought about selling it and donating the money to cancer or alpolecia research. But THEN I heard that some cosmetics companies will buy your hair to test their products, instead of testing it on animals. Does anyone know of any specific companies that will do this? How would I go about finding a company that will buy my hair??

Please don't tell me I should donate it to Locks of Love. I'm not asking if I should or not; I've made up my mind that I am not going to do that and I have my reasons. Just answer my question. Thanks.

well i am a hair dresser and i will tell you their is no market for people to sell their hair any more you won't get any money for it unless its super thick and healthy(meaning no color or chemicals in it) and you will need 12 inches to cut off so if you can wait that long without putting chemicals dyes and or using a flat iron on it then go ahead and sell it.

Well you should donate it to people with a illness like the person said up above...BUT testing products on aminals is WRONG!! Im a BIG animal lover so what I would do is donate some to the people with a illness and some to a company so they WON'T have to test on animals. If it's not possible for you to donate half and half...then you should do what YOU feel is right.

I agree with her: Your hair can be a blessing to someone who needs it and you know that the human hair wigs are so much more expensive than synthetic ones. Human hair is easier to manage, sheds less and lasts way longer. I know, I used to wear wigs because my hair was cut short and I wasn't good at styling it correctly and I didn't have money to keep seeing that expensive stylist. But if you really could use that money from one of those companies, I do understand.

Please go with your original thought. People who have lost their hair due to illness need your hair to help them feel better about their appearance much more than someone needs it for vanity purposes.
