Communication, compromise, tolerance, and an immense amount of true devotion. There used to be the true devotion to family and marriage, stick it out no matter what. Now, its more about sticking it out until your tired of it.

How does love last? Let me count the ways...
One of the things that makes love last is not taking your partner for granted. Even after fifty years, a hug and a kiss makes a difference, so does saying I love you. And so does doing little things for each other. Not the expected things, but the unexpected things. When he takes out the garbage, he picks a flower and brings it in for me. And yes, the romance is still there.
There is a tenderness, a truthfulness, and a wonderful sense of support. You know you can depend on each other, no matter what happens. And it's the two of you against the world, if things come down to that. Nothing is more important, than the feeling you have for each other.
If you're lucky, and find the right one, that's how love lasts....

It's a kewl thing to see isn't it?
Love can be a fickle thing...so much in our world today is disposable, that many treat relationships that way as well...seniors who've been together for decades typically weathered the rough times and didn't throw in the towel when it got tough, or when something that looked better came along...
It all depends on the level of committment, and if the couple stays well matched throughout the years...sometimes what starts as a good match, isn't anymore when one or both people grow/change in different directions...
We never know how long love will be with us...but for those who truly want it to last, they have to put in a little work sometimes...

That is a beautiful picture. I remember the little kisses I would see my grandparents giving each other when I was a kid and how I would think it was gross. It wasn't until I got older that I realized just how much they loved each other. There example help me to see how precious love is and how much it should be cherished. I lost both my grandparents last year and this is the memory of them I cherish the most. Thank you for the reminder.

Love takes work. The man needs to wake up each day and think of one thing he could do to brighten his partner's day and his partner needs to do the same. Love is the lesson of selflessness. You get what you give and learn that being right all the time isn't worth sacrificing the relationship.

Love lasts by two people never losing sight of how important the other one is. never take for granted that tomorrow will come. Always trust and respect your partner. Keep things fresh and new so you don't get bored.

I think every situation is different. A lot of people pretend to be someone they're not, to make the person they're with happy. You have to be yourself.
