Not tortured but tormented. Those who go to hell go because of their own actions (#1 action, not accepting the gift Christ offers all). By not taking the free gift of salvation they choose hell. Usually one chooses hell because one does not believe the offer is real or their pride won't let go of whatever they'd rather hold on to.
So, once in hell one realizes the they rejected the free gift and they have to live for eternity knowing that they could have been reunited with God but chose to reject His Son instead. Torment because in hell, there will be an awareness of what Heaven is like (the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus the begger in Luke 16:19-31) and they will know that they will never get there. Eternal separation from God because of one's own choice is torment. And we will burn with guilt and regret forever. Peace.

Hell will be the place were one is totally separated from God protection.Recall how Job had a hedge about him,and although the hedge was taken down to some degree, the devil was still limited by God.In hell you can scream all you want for God and He will never hear your cry. There you will be forgotten by God never to be remembered again. The devil can now do as he pleases.

God is absolutely perfect, holy, and righteous. He is also just. You, like me, are a sinner who rebels against God. We belittle His name and are therefore guilty of the gravest offense. We deserve hell; you, me, and everyone on earth.
The Good News is that, not only is God just, He is also loving! So loving, that He came Himself, in the Person of Jesus Christ, to absorb the wrath that sin deserves. On the cross, Jesus, though sinless Himself, took the wrath of God against the sin of all who trust Him.
God never ignores sin (to do so would not be just). If you trust Jesus, your sin was paid for on the cross. Without Christ, you must pay for you own sin eternally in hell.
Read Ephesians 2:1-9 and praise God for what He has done for His people!

It isn't. The reality of God has nothing to do with the insane doctrines of Divine wrath, and punishment (to create beings capable of sin, then punish the sinners). There is no such monstrosity; there is only God, and God's creations, and ours, with Him.
