This is an incredibly complex thing to explain, so I'm not going to try to too hard. But basically, I am no saying that we all have a fate that we are destined to fulfill, nor am I saying we have complete control over are actions. If you stop to think about what makes you act the way you do, can you find a concrete answer? Now those of you who are extremely relgious may answer with soul or some faith based response and really I am asking this question towards the more logic based thinkers out thier. I basically think of free will as non exsitent simply because every action i have ever done is caused from an action done to me, and that action was caused by an action done to it, and so on and so forth. And if something happens to me, lets say someone says hello, though i may be able to think of diffrent possible ways I could respond, I can only respond in one way, meaning that beacuse the person said hello, it triggered one and only one possible response from me given that scenario

My previous explination is obvioulsy leaving some to miss interpret my meaning. When I say thier is only one possible respone I mean this for anything. For example if someone said hello, I could respond in any numerous ways, wether I say Hi, or flick them off, or run away screaming, all of which are possible, BUT thier is onyl one respone im going to give. ONLY ONE. Thought I may think about what I am going to say or do, i will only react in one way, wether its not saying anything or just speaking random words, whatever i only have one reaction. If you were to theoretically go back in time and replay the scenario exactly as it happend before with no knowledge of it happening i would respond in teh same way, meaning that beacuse the person said hello, they caused me to react in whatever way it was that i reacted. Its like typing 1+1 into a calculator it is programed to respond in only one way, as are humans. Every action was caused by a previous action.

This is interesting. I would recommend you read Charles Spurgeon's sermons online- You can find his sermons online and look for the one titled "Doctrine of Grace"

I agreed with it and it explained A LOT. And after knowing this even bible scriptures have become more evident and clear on this matter. I believe the Holy Spirit has revealed this to me- because I earnestly wanted to know the same thing...and I sought God on this matter.

the only problem with that is you choose to say hello. Here is an example I give you, my daughter is little and she has to say hello to everyone that walks by her. Not everyone says hello back. If the only response is hello, then this proves free will because his response to my daughter's hello was no response.

If you don't think we have free will, then who governs our will. If you say God does, and His will is perfect, then why is this world so messed up?

What about those Amish girls that were shot and killed. What effect caused that. The reasons the guy listed didn't even happen. Despite whatever events happen in a person's life, they choose how they want to handle it. What will goverened that man to kill those girls and kill himself?

Another senario is my parents went through a horrible divorce when I was younger. Not to mention the years of abuse from my dad before that. My brothers and I have dealt with it in very different ways. One got into drugs and has messed up his life. The other brother, is an introvert and keeps pretty much to himself. I have become stronger from it, and moved on without issues of bitterness. My brother that is into drugs doesn't want a relatioship with my dad. My other brother has one, and I do too. We have all chosen different things. We all experienced the same things from my dad, but have handeled it in different ways.

Before I became a Christian, I was going to remain bitter at my dad forever. I never wanted to see him again. After though, I read God's word, and knew I needed to forgive my dad. You see, I believe there is God's will, which is perfect and there is His permissive will. He allows things to happen because He will not interefere with the free will Has given man. I can choose to follow His will, but sometimes my self gets in the way, and I mess up.

The problem with the mindset you explained is that it is so easy to place the blame on someone else for your actions. We all need to take responsibilty for the choices we make because the fact is that we do have more than one choice.

We do have free will and what ever is going to happen will happen. We can not look into or go to the future that is why we can say what ever will happen will happen because it will when it happens. As far as free will goes of course we have free will and our brains make us do the things we do and our conscious stops us doing the things we don't do. Our decision making is made up of emotions and knowledge and memory and desires and situation. We choose what do based on these things. One thing you can try is when you make a decision stop and really think about it. This way you will be making it based on your mind. Then you look at your mind and what put it in its condition, was it your whole life mixed with the physical make up of your brain or was it the way you first interpreted your first stimulant as an infant that set you on the path to make that decision? Wow I could go on for an age with a discussion about this but I have to go and get morning tea as I am at work lol. Good bloody Q though and update it with anything else you might be thinking and I will watch it.

Free will is non-existent, and it has nothing to do with gods. We all do things based on our experiences and who we are so when we're sitting down watching TV and a show we don't like comes on we change the channel and it wouldn't happen any other way. And if there are punishments involved we could still do stuff in spite of the punishments but we don't because we learned as we grew up that punishments suck. So we all do things and there's no other way we'd do them unless it was a parallel universe.

Those who believe that we do have free will, must allow the ability to do good as well as evil, which can lead to the idea that God would "make you do good" if there were no free will. This is not the case. The lack of free will simply describes our being so tainted with sin that we cannot do any "good" save for God's grace. We can't even look to God for our salvation, and therefore there is no "programming" as you are suggesting since it doesn't matter what we decide anyway -- we are not getting to heaven on our own merits.

Hi
You are very confusious for certain.
The fact that you choose to write a lengthy question with circular reasoning and antichristian bashing has nothing to do with the lack of logic that you attempted to portray here.
Im glad your simple illustration of the "hello" given that scenario would result in a responded "hi" also, however............
**logic reveals this: WHEN YOU ASK A/ANY QUESTION ON HERE(SINGULAR) HOW IS IT THAT MANY DIFFIRENT RESPONSES ARE GIVEN? SERIOUSLY THOUGH.

YES. FREEWILL EXISTS.
IF YOU CHOOSE TRUTH OR A LIE THIS IS YOUR DOING.

I feel sorry for you if you can only come up with one response to hello.
We always have a choice in what we do even if it is a reaction. If there is one second between action and reaction that is plenty of time to make a choice on how to act.

Free will is an illusion.
