Get ready for some new arrivals, then get an appointment to have your female dog neutered once she's had her pups if you don't want it to happen again.

Call the vet and make an appointment for an emergency spay. There are 15 dogs born for every human baby born - They are way too many dogs for all of them to find homes. Everyday dogs are euthanized in shelters because there are just too many of them. Do the right thing and don't contribute to this problem. An emergency spay is much safer for your dog than having puppies, and it will be MUCH cheaper than the cost of whelping puppies.

Sounds like you haven't taken responsibliity for what happened. Your comment sounds like you blame your female dog for what happened. It wasn't her fault. Time to act responsibly and take good care of your dogs. Spay and neuter if you are not an intentional breeder and should your female be pregnant, be responsible and find good homes for all the pups.

Good luck.

Have her spayed NOW! You can still prevent her from having a litter
There are too many puppies that are euthanized every day because there are too many animals and not enough homes, Although it may seem like an easy task to find a home for puppies I guarantee you only 1 out of 10 if that are quality homes. Please don't add to this. Take a walk through your local shelter and you'll see.

First how old are both dogs has she had her first heat, is he old enough to produce puppies ?I know it takes 9 weeks for her to give birth, and if they mated more than once it could be dangerous because still borns can occur due to the time diffrence from first to last pregnancy.

Well the only thing you can do if you don't want to have the female abort the pups is to sit back and wait for the new arrival.Your female should have been protected and kept away from any male dogs if you didn't want her to breed. You can see your vet for an injection for her to abort, but requires two injections at two weeks apart and in my state the cost is $25.00 each injection.

Was your female in season? The female goes into season about twice a month(every 6 mnths)-they generally stay into season for about 3 weeks.
The first week, she wont really be bothered with him,the second-she will want him and the third is like the first.
I would call the vet and ask them.Sometimes, things like that just happen, and they dont end up pregnant-you have to watch the females cycle, and when she is in season, keep her away from the male-unless he is neutered.

That is exactly what animals, that have not been spayed or neutered, do.
If you did not want puppies you should have had the dogs fixed.
Prepare for a litter now or go to the vet and see what he can offer you.

Well, you should have asked that question BEFORE your female and male got together. After the puppies arrive, and you find them GOOD homes, get the female spayed and the male neutered.

Have fun with your new pups! AFter the pups are weaned, make an appointment right away to have your female spayed. That way you won't have anymore unforseen arrivals.
