I would like to know if there is a way other users from the same comuter can access my files if I am not the administrator and how to prevent that, if the answer is yes? Can I have password on select files that the administrator don't know and how to do that? Thank you in advance!

it's unix on the inside... real security!

other users can't access your files .... unless they are administrators.

there is even a built in solution for that! it's called filevault in the security tab of the system preferences.

The way to prevent that is to be an administrator. Why are you not an administrator? It sounds like you want to administer so you should become and administrator. Who made you less than administrator? Sucks, eh? Ask one of the administrators to make you their equal. Maybe they will oblige you. Yeah, right.

Even if you can become and administrator, that still doesn't guarantee complete security for your files. Someone could login as root user and have access to every blessed file on the computer. More sucks.

Third party software might give you an option to hide your files from other admin users but there will always be root user. Nothing hides from root. Root rules.

You would have to log in as the administrator to do that, then you can make all the changes you want. But from a non-administrator account you can't do much.
