If you already have section 8 u will find an apartment. They have 2 be registered as a section 8 landlord. Depending on the amount of your voucher you should try craigslist . In the search box type section 8 and how many bedrooms and the min & max rent. U should find something there.

If you don't have section 8 you may apply for HSP if you receive public assistance or in a shelter. There are no new applications 4 Section 8 in N.Y.

Good Luck!

It's legal everywhere. Landlords are not required to accept Section 8 rental payments if they choose otherwise. That law changed about a decade back. The ONLY requirement is that a landlord cannot refuse Sec 8 from certain tenants while accepting it from others. It must be a uniform rule for all tenants. If Grandma's annual Section 8 lease agreement is up now, the landlord can change the rules when it expires.

Go the the www.nysgov.com and you should be able to get some answers there. Of course you will have to type in New York City after you get the nysgov site.
