My bf never lets me finish one sentence, every time I start to talk, he cuts me off and starts talking about himself. Then when he calls me, he talks about himself some more and before I have the chance to say anything he says that he has to go and he'll call me later. He will sometimes wake me up at night and can literally talk for three hours without me saying one word ( I've fallen asleep on the phone before and he didnt even know), I have told him this before and he said he was going to work on it, then when nothing changed I tried to break up with him last night and he begged me not to. He is the best guy I have ever dated except for this one annoying thing!! What can I do to get him to shut the hell up and listen to me for a change?

I have had this problem before... I think that you are on the right track with confronting him about the problem... Since he is willing to work on it, maybe you should give him a little friendly reminder about that willingness when he starts to talk a little too much.

boyfriends are harder to train than dog's but only because they can talk back. You're apparently rewarding the wrong behavior, and now you've got a yipyip boyfriend dancing on his hindlegs like a jack russell terrior and he won't shut up. try this, in the future, just tell him, you're ranting again, I gotta go.....and go. Arguments aren't better the more you go round and round. Once around the park is enough. If all else fails, promise him sex if he would just be quiet.

LOL he's perfect accept for that one teeny tiny thing. He has ADD. These people don't understand that a conversation is 2 ways. They are not capable of listening and having a dialog. He needs to take medication. This is a very common disorder.

When he calls next, Do this: "Say I'll call you back and hang up the phone".
Then don't call him back. If he calls again, say I have to go! Hang up the phone.

After doing this 3 times, he might just ask (WHY) you did this.

Then say this: I will tell you why, if you will shut up and not interupt me while I'm talking. If he does, then just YELL AS LOUD AS YOU CAN FOR HIM TO SHUT UP!!!
If he tries to talk over you, then walk away.
