I am a southern Baptist and I live in the south now. I lived in California most of my life and I actually never realized that so many don't believe in God. It tells us in God's Holy Bible this will be the case but I never actually was around that many who didn't believe. I find it absolutely amazing that so many are so ignorant. I am so very happy to be one of the few who believe and not the other way around. I feel sorry for those who refuse to listen and turn a deaf ear to God's message to us all.

Well, I can see trees and feel the energy coming from them, yet it's hard for you to believe that the spirit of the Goddess is within everything around us. And thank you, but I have a LOT of faith in my Gods and Goddesses. I've gotten a lot more help since discovering Them than I ever had when I was praying to the Christian God.

Yes, but the air has a quantifiable fingerprint on the world. We can measure air. We can check the oxygen content of it. We can detect the friction it causes on everything it blankets.
None of this is true of god. We can't measure him. We have two things: the bible and faith. The bible is useless. There are several thousand other holy texts which say much the same thing, proclaiming the existence of beings just as ephemeral as your god. Faith is also useless as evidence; it is just accepting a claim without questioning it.

Come On! I can't believe no one has said it yet. Don't any of you watch South Park? I don't believe in your God in the same way that you would not believe me if I told you God was a giant Spaghetti Monster. Then I would combat all your rebuttals with the time honored "Just cause you can't see him that doesn't mean he doesn't exist." The Spaghetti Monster is an even more plausible explanation than yours because you see him with your very eyes each time you go to Olive Garden. You fill your belly with a steaming bowl of God, he nourishes you and yet you deny his existence? Heretic!

Why is it so hard for some of you to not believe in the lord? Why dont you give other religions a chance before you claim them as false. Your theory applies to Allah, Thor, Odin, Horus, Ra, and many other God(s) that cant be seen. Why dont you have faith in them and bless you, all those gods may show you the way.

Because there is no credible proof of his existence, and, believers can't give any rational, fact-based explanations as to why I should.
I would love to believe in an all-loving, all-powerful God who watches over me and keeps a good eye on things, but the older I get the more I realize something just isn't right with the whole God-thing.

It wouldn't be so hard to believe if the parameters didn't change.
Missionary goes to Africa and finds a tribe that has never heard the word of God, only their own Deity Akansha. The missionary strides up to the Shaman and says "Where is your God, I can't see him"
The Shaman smiles and says Akansha is everywhere, in the rocks, the trees, the water, the air" The missionary smirks and says "So you have no real proof your God is real, you should follow my God instead!"
"Can I see your God?" asks the Shaman The missionary looks shocked and says "No, you can't see my God, why to look on his face would blind you, to hear his voice would deafen you, to be in his presence would burn your mortal form to ash!"
"Ah!" says the shaman "I understand, hes shy!"

Oh, I dunno, maybe it could possibly be that we are supposed to see Jesus in the lives of his followers, and when we look, he is is hidden from us.
Does the bible say that Christians are to be ambassadors for Christ? Does it say Christians are to follow his example? Does it say Christians are to be imitators of Christ?
I am sorry, but I do not see any of this in Christians today. All I see is people doing what they want to and justifying it as they are saved sinners covered by the blood of Christ.
For me it is hard to believe the testimony of a believer when they cheat on taxes, live with someone and have kids by them unmarried, drink, smoke, play chess at work and send private emails at work when this is forbidden, they run red lights and speed, and because all this is minor sins in their eyes, they still preach to us and when we mention their behavior, they say, I am forgiven for my sins and covered by the blood of Jesus.
To me Christianity would be much more appealing if the believer would live the way they are supposed to and show us their lives are a testimony for Jesus, and not their words.
I guess it is not their fault because they have examples like Jim Baker, Jimmy Swaggert, and now Ted Haggerd. These people sinned, then claimed they were sorry, and the people instead of demanding a period of repentance like in the first century church and evidence of repentance they just forgive just like that and wonder why we do not beleive anything they say.
I am sorry, that is just what I see and how I see it, you asked an honest question and I am answering as I see it.

Air can be tested an proven to exist, the same is not true of god. Also, it's difficult for me to blindly worship an all-powerful being that allows so much needless suffering and wrote a book full of bad advice.
