Did you take him to speech therapist. My oldest son had a difficult time learning numbers but now he is graduating from a prestigious university. His kindergarten teacher complained about his language but in senior year of high school, he was nominated for English. Keep at it.

Nothing is more frustrating to a child than a speach delay. My daughter was a very smart child however she had a hard time at school because she couldn't talk she would be saying dog and you would think it was doll, she did have a seizure disorder but the main problem was her ears, due to a poorly formed eustachian tube fluid would build up on her ears and distort what she was hearing so she wasn't hearing a lot of the sounds there for learned to pronounce the words wrong. She went to speech therapy until she was in 5th grade and the key for us was to make sure she would face us when we were talking and not be looking away this way she knew we were talking and even though her hearing improved she had to train herself to hear. My son also has a speech problem and we found out with him it is his teeth. He has a severe over bite which affects the way he is able to pronounce the words and a very good orthodontist and a great speech teacher has got him talking like a champ. Everytime your child says something and it is wrong calmly say the word again slowly and have him repeat it again. On the letters try saying the letter and having him write it as you do to see if he knows what the letter is he might just be getting them confused and need more help to remember.

Okay, I am a type of been there unkempt ladies that now takes plenty of delight of their look. First and principal ANYBODY goes to consider higher and not more depressed despite the fact that they already are depressed if they are going to do the pleasant with what they've and train a minimum of well hygiene. Then the extra that they WILL and CAN do with their look will upgrade their self-worth by way of one hundred ten%. I am residing evidence of that and up till three months in the past after 22 years of marriage I would pass 6 months no longer placed make-up and lied to the sector and myself that I was once relaxed with it. Now I may not such a lot as opt for a jog with out a minimum of eyeliner and lipstick. My marriage has gotten a far wanted spice up. I ordinarily do, no, I recognize that I do have a husband that loves me unconditionally and can stick with me via thick and skinny however that's no well excuse to permit him seem at a hag when you consider that of it. I like myself a hell of plenty extra and if individuals are going to be haten on you in your query do not fear approximately it when you consider that there might be a couple of that would discover that they resemble your comment and do whatever approximately it and be grateful you published it. If there may be any right position to invite whatever of this nature, this discussion board is so much surely it. More of my two cents....This has simply long gone over a few of these peoples heads, this isn't approximately hating or judging for so much it's specific hindrance. I wanted I had aroused from sleep years in the past.

nutrition supports the health of the body and of the brain right? the brain is responsible for speech right? will then when you feed the body the vitamines and minerals it needs then often times health and also in this case speech problems will correct themselves.Try these steps for at least three months and see if i am right!! here is some information for you. you should give him these two things DHEA AND EFA but give him a very very small amount (SMALL AMOUNTS) like two or three drops a day and not a full tablet capsule.I can't stress enough about only giving him small amounts. (ask at health food store about DHEA. As for EFA read below). In my opinion I would not suggest or recommend most conventional treatments, there are alternative approaches that can be taken. The body's PH balance is a very important factor to be considered, you want to have more of an alkaline PH, to have a body that is to acidic can be very dangerous to a persons health (to much sugar or the wrong types of sugar in the diet can cause an acidic PH, by wrong types in my opinion are splenda, corn syrup, white sugar. Most sugars that are labeled as brown sugar are actually white sugar that had some of the molasses stirred back into it,)the reason that i am telling you this is because i am pretty sure that what is in the diet can cause this speech problem .I suggest a change in diet, drink a lot of clean bottled water no soda or drinks with sugar in them,TAKE SUGAR OUT OF HIS DIET AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ) include
MINERALS (the sports one is flavored or else i think that there are others that are flavored) AND EFA dietary supplements from a company called American Longevity, phone#1-800-982-3189 2400 Boswell Road, chula vista, California 91914 be careful about the amount of the mineral supplement do not exceed more then one teaspoon a dayfor him,Vitamins, the vitamin product that i use is called E 7 (essential seven.) the telephone number is 1(888) 737-7307 i would take only one third of one scoop a day for him . If you do some study about what exactly it is that all of these different vitamins and minerals PURPOSE INSIDE OUR BODY'S is you will probably figure out that they can help to elevate ALMOST all other symptoms of ill health, there is a audio tape about minerals called "dead doctors don't lie" call 1800-982-3189 to order. (GIVE HIM ONLY THE AMOUNTS OF THESE SUPPLEMENTS AS DESCRIBED ABOVE)
Here is some more information that you would like.

I think the problem is a bit more deep rooted than speech problems, it could be hearing, or a specific learning difficulty, non of which would be connected to inteligence in any way. I would opnly worry about autism if he has difficulty making friends,
speak slowly and clearly to him, occasionally kids have have problems gathering the information in the brain and then expressing it through their mouth. Can't remember what its called off hand.
Hope you get him all the help he needs. My son has speech and language difficulties, so I know a bit about the subject

The speech problem, I have an answer for. If he speaks unclearly at all, and since he is slow to understand, then he might be slightly deaf. The slow to understand problem might be that he is actually hearing muffled words and is trying to get them as close as possible to any words that he actually knows. From day 1 to age 4, I had been half deaf due to fluids building up in my ears, muffling sound waves. My parents thought that I was mentally retarded, because my words were slurred and it took me about 2 minutes just to understand what they were telling or asking me. So go have his ears checked and get back to me with the results. Hope I helped =)

my five year old is going through the same thing and he is seeing a speech pathologist. they work with ur child to be able to speak clearly where u can understand him. ur son is slow because he has the speech problem. just have him evaluated and let them put him in a speech class. the school knows what to do and also have the dr. do a hearing test on him.

My cousins daughter had the same problem. We found out that she had fluid build up in her ears. After clearing that up she went to a speech therapist for two years. Now she is doing great, in fact, English is her best subject. There is no way to tell what's going on until he sees the neurologist/doctor though so you'll just have to hang in there. Good luck!

Autism spectrum disorder maybe? If so, he's definitely not retarded, in fact he could be a genius. You'll have to challenge the school to give him an appropriate education, and that will help him go a long way. I'm the mom of a 22-year-old with autism.
