I have never seen a passage in The Bible that talks about heaven and hell, specifically the idea that a "soul" will enter either place in the afterlife. My understanding is that The Bible never mentions this idea; could someone confirm this?

oh yes, it atually does. In books: Dan.12:2; cf. Is.26:19; Jn.5:28-29; Rev.20, Lk.16:19-31, Lk.16:22; 23:43, Is.14; Ezek.28), 2Pet.3:10-13; Rev.21:1, Matt.25:41; Rev.20:10, Heb.11:10; cf. Heb.13:14, Rev.21-22; cf. Heb.12:22-23, Matt.7:13-15, Jn.10:1-18, Th whole book of revelations talks about Heaven. Saying that it doesn't mention Heaven and Hell is like saying that it doens't mention Jesus or Salvation or life. matthew 23:33 is about going to hell. there is so much more i can't write it all out.

Yes it mentions both. Here are a few examples
# Matthew 16:19
And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”
# Revelation 4:1
[ Worship in Heaven ] Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.”
Revelation 4:1-3 (in Context) Revelation 4 (Whole Chapter) That is why the Tabernacle and everything in it, which were copies of things in heaven, had to be purified by the blood of animals. But the real things in heaven had to be purified with far better sacrifices than the blood of animals.
Hebrews 9:22-24Matthew 23:33
Snakes! Sons of vipers! How will you escape the judgment of hell?
Matthew 23:32-34 For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell, in gloomy pits of darkness, where they are being held until the day of judgment.
2 Peter 2:3-5

Heaven is mentioned in Revelations 4:1. "At this point I had another vision and a saw an open door in heaven." the word "heaven" is also mentioned in Revelation 11:13 "...The rest of the people were terrified and praised the greatness of the God of heaven." You can not read the bible with a physical mind; your inner man has to connect with the bible.

the two are good. in one sense, you're the two regularly occurring into God's presence or you're actually not. something wanting being interior the presence of the daddy must be termed "hell." although, the Bible does point out different heavens and different "glories" because it particularly is termed interior the KJV. that comparable verse is the place you will locate it stating the Celestial and Terrestrial glories. The Telestial isn't stated via call, yet you will locate that the Celestial is while in comparison with the sunlight, the Terrestrial to the moon, and the unnamed glory (Telestial) is while in comparison with the celebrities. once you're thinking with reference to the shortcoming of greater desirable element on the three kingdoms, it particularly is why God maintains to call prophets. it particularly is why God did no longer purely provide each and every thing to Moses and then tell him the Bible grew to become into all complete.

There are way too many places in the bible that mention heaven and hell to copy them here. I would suggest a concordance. I In Revelation of course there are references to both, also in the gospels.

heaven is mentioned all throughout the bible. however i can see what your saying. heaven was used to describe what we now call the universe. it wasnt a set place as we think it like, with gold and pearly white gates. but it was what held the stars in place, where the sun and planets hung. *shrug* interesting.

maybe this is where they got it from...

Matthew 5:3
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:10
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
