My hair is naturally wavy/curly but most of the time I straighten it. But, after an hour or so, it starts to get a kink in one side no matter how much hairspray I use. Could getting a different hairstyle help the problem? And how else can I make my hair stay straighter throughout the day?

have your hair layered and thinned out.get a good straightner, ceramic irons are the best, they may be expensiv e but they are worth it in the long run ,mine cost 100 and they are great..try using sleek and straight shampoo aswell,.don't use too much hairspray use a wax to define the hair instead.good luck.

I can tell you what currently works for me. I have wavy/curly hair that looks disgusting if I brush it out so I've been straightening it since 5th grade. After shampoo I use Pantene Smooth & Sleek conditioner. While my hair is still damp I use ABBA Straightening Balm. The ABBA balm is what gives it a better chance of staying straight throughout the day.

Once my hair is dry I use Conair Big Curls 1.5" Jumbo Curling Iron Model CD150W. It may be discontinued and only available on certain websites. It's the best thing I've found so far to straighten my hair. I use to have a problem with a kink that was like a ledge in my hair around the side of my head. It was mostly when I used a flat straightening iron.

When my little sister was younger and everybody wanted straight hair, hers was a little frizzy at the front and she ironed it with a towel over her hair on the ironing board! for a few months and now three years later all she does is towel dry her hair straight (not completely straight but much straighter) who would have thought something as silly as that would more or less permanently straighten her hair?

DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually it was probably also the moisturising shampoos she used that sorted out kinks,

kinks: The more you straighten it the worse it gets. Wash toy hair and towl dry it completely. Then straighten in going over each bit only once, especially the fringe.

I have hair that is pretty wavy on its own. It also tends to frizz if there is any moisture in the air. Well I live on the ocean, so there is always moisture! I had to eventually give up on straight hair - unless it is a particularily dry day.

I have found one product that helps my hair stay put, it is the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Finishin Creme. It says to put it on after styling, but I put it on my dry hair before I curl or straighten and it seems to hold the style longer. Give it a try.

PS - personally I think the straight hair look is boring and done. I love my hot rollers though. Nothing is more beautiful than head full of bouncy curls, and your hair will take better to the style since its wavy already!

You can go to a beauty supply in the hood and get a pressing comb not electric but the ones that go on the stove and get a blow dryer with comb that will make you hair straight then press it make sure it does not touch his hair believe me it will work and your hair will stay straight for days then tie it up at night i am black and my hair is so nappy if you use the blow dryer with the comb it breaks. but then i press it it is fluffy shinny and everyone call me money mike from wild and out because my hair is so straight you really have to try that

OMG... I had the same problem. But after a while I got this stuff called "Redken 12 Align". After you shower, put a little bit in your hair and blow dry it. After that, straighten it... TA-DA!! Straight hair for the whole day!

~Use a straighting iron
~Like you said, try a new hairspray
~A new shampoo may help
well good luck!

They key is to make sure your hair is COMPLETELY DRY, i know it feels dry but take a break from the dryer do your make up and continue drying it, then use a ceramic iron it must be ceramic those are the only ones that work...are you using a staightening balm?

do NOT use hairspray then you might want to get it layered cause that helps the thickness another thing is never put it behind your ears and try to brush it as less as possible and you might want to blow dry it because that helps.also try to invest about another few bucks into a new straightner also try Redkin 12 align that kinda works i heard
