Its simply the interior volume the fridge can hold, 22 cu ft, 25 cu ft, etc...

If you are wondering about how to measure the cubic feet of a fridge compared to a spot you wanna put it in, there is no way of doing that, since it is possible to get a 25 cuft fridge that is counter depth to fit the same space as a standard 22 cuft fridge. All I would suggest if you are looking at the outside dimensions is to get a tape measure and measure height, with and depth of your space, and then when you go looking for a fridge, get one that is at least 1inch shorter, and 1 to 2 inches thinner.

Cubic feet, in this instance, is measurement of the holding capacity of the fridge.
Imagine measuring a room in your house; length times the width times the height will give you the volume: If your room was 10 feet long by 12 feet wide by 8 feet high your room would have a volume of 960 cubic feet.
A new fridge at the appliance store will have this measurement given for you.
Don't forget to measure WHERE the fridge will go in your kitchen to make sure the one you pick out will fit!

Cubic feet has to do with the capacity of the fridge, you just use regular measurements for the size of the fridge and whether or not it will fit in the space that you want to put it in.
