Prejudice, stereotyping and racism are everywhere, in every country. Read the news in Germany, Australia or anywhere else and you'll find that people generally exhibit negative behavior to anyone who is different.
In this country racism has had a long history. From the treatment of the natives by the Conquistadors, to the waves of white immigrants from Europe killing off and displacing the Native Americans, to waves of Italians, Irish, Chineese and many others who have been unwelcome when they arrived. It's in our programming. It takes a sincere desire to do what is just for people to work past this conditioned response.
Even people who aren't overtly racist often have suspicion towards those who are different, like a burning ember in their hearts. Given any reason the ember spings into a fire and they justify their behavior based on the most flimsy and illogical of arguements.
Are they illegal -you betcha. Should they be allowed to break the laws -no. BUT if we are to cry for justice, and not be hippocrites THEN we have to deal with the whole issue. Why the heck haven't companies that knowingly recruit illegal immigrants been closed down? Its no secret. We know the big companies involved. Don't want to hurt the economy, pay higher prices or mess with your profit margins? You can't have it both ways.
And that's the problem. Because there are huge amounts of money in play by these industries that depend on illegals, and because money equals power, the issue has not been resolved. You want the benefit of cheap illegal labor? Then they deserve some basic human rights. You don't think so? Then instead of poking at the illegal immigrants, show how serious you are by attacking the rich powerful industries that use them in court and with boycotts; tackle the officials who protect these industries when it is important to their districts, or when lobbyists offer money to sympathetic congressmen to help maintain the status quo. Why talk about illegals 'not being tough enough to stand up to their own governments and coming here to protest' when you attack illegals but don't have the nerve to stand up or pay the price for the abuses by American companies.

What do you mean by lately? There has been anti-immigrant discrimination since Colonial days. IN the early 1800's, it was all anti-Irish, after that it was anti-southern and eastern European and anti-Chinese; then it was anti-German in WW1/2 and anti Japanese; then we have always had the anti-native american. So when you say lately, I haven't a clue as to what your talking about.
Regarding illegal immigration itself; yes, we should have secured borders, 9-11 anyone? Yes, we should have a guest worker program to allow people whom want to work jobs that most americans don't want to do; however, but the burden of proof on the companies that they cannot get Americans to work for the jobs - since many companies abuse this when hiring highly skilled immigrant labor. Yes, we should enable a citizenship process for those already here; do you really think we are going to ship 15 million people out of the country? Much less, if they had children born here, the children are considered American citizens since they are BORN here; would you really seperate mother or father from child? Secured borders, yes. Guest worker, yes. Citizenship process changes, yes. Example; hispanic peoples I've seen that are probably illegals - hard workers all. Why keep them illegal? Tax refunds, benefits not returned to illegals; yes they get services for free in some cases; however, what they pay in they don't get back either. Question becomes - do we want security and as we do; do we want to retain our principles of fair play, justice, compassion and mercy.

It's not that we make it hard for everybody to become a citizen. It's the fact that sooo many want to be here and there just isn't room for them all. It's called having a quota..every country has one. It specifies the amount of people able to come in each year. There are sooo many illegals here now that rents have skyrocketed, schools are crappy and most kids don't speak English..etc. We are soo overcrowded, it doesn't matter if your not a criminal....if we don't have room for you than you can't come.
Are we supposed to become a 3rd world country population-wise and education-wise? Are we supposed to crowd our family in a crappy apartment because we can't afford to buy a house? Why do we have to go to Mexico to get dental work done because it's so expensive here, yet illegal aliens are covered by medi-cal from our tax dollars and are able to get work done here?
Give me a break and think a little bit before you continue to spout out more drivel and waste our time with ignoramus questions.
"There are no stupid questions...just inquisitive idiots"
I think that I've found one.....

I think a few things have triggered it...
9/11 is a major one. Security and securing the borders are two catalysts for this.
Large increase in illegal alien influx
The effects of illegal immigration are taking their toll. If the numbers were small it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But there are 10-20 million illegal aliens and they're not just agricultural workers in Cali or SW US. They're all over the country and in all kinds of trades. They are placing large stress on public services and in many areas depressing wages for certain trades (e.g. carpenters, brick layers, etc.)
I'm sure the vast majority of illegals are decent working people and there is also an element of criminals. But fact is, they are here illegally.
Immigration policy needs to change, we have to enforce the laws and we need to secure our borders.

The government is NOT making it hard on the illegal aliens...obviously you don't care about health care, education, or jobs for Americans or your attitude would change. The illegals come here work for cash, roughly $10.00 per hour (as studies show) cash - no taxes, then they get everything else either free or almost free...wake up and smell the coffee - stop believing all those sob stories they tell....I only came to help my family - that's BS...they only came to work the system!

Its the numbers, 2 illegals cross every min., thats 120 in one hour, or 2880 in a day. It must stop and soon. We have immigration laws, they are very clear, and time tested, the illegal immigrants don't want to wait, they want to come here, and right now. We can not just keep telling these laws breakers that it is ok.

I stay in Arizona and spot the effects of this on a regular basis. i don't have figures in this - i might think of those could be guesses in any case, yet right here is what i will make it easier to realize. Our prisons are stuffed with people who come right here illegally. maximum basically face deportation and that's taken care of as a misdemeanor. regardless of if, as suggested above, a number of those all of us is gang individuals, to boot as people who're escaping prosecution of their residing house u . s . a . (now and back those are violent offenders). additionally be conscious that the 2nd best contribution to the Mexican economic gadget is money sent from the u . s . a .. to boot to that, think of roughly what share illegals come right here just to have somewhat one, so as that it relatively is going to likely be an American Citizen. right here is what i think of. i think of you forget with reference to the clarification for unlawful immigration and you attempt to declare it would not effect us in a detrimental way. I won't argue that factor. particularly i visit ask you - regardless of if it is so undesirable of their u . s . a . that they experience the only answer is to return right here, why do no longer they upward thrust up in that residing house u . s . a . - the place ever this is - and spectacular those issues? Is it because of the fact the drug gangs have taken over? Is it because of the fact their political and regulation enforcement structures are so corrupt that there is not any desire? if so, i won't be in a position to understand why they does no longer make greater of an attempt to assimilate into our way of existence and convey the main suitable of what they should supply from theirs, and gain this in a miles less demeaning (to US voters) way than I see being achieved daily.

Illegal immigrants are BAD! Those taking the LEGAL steps through immigration should be accepted. The problem is that Republicans see all immigrants as being "illegal". They need to see that there are both LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigrants and not group them all together.

Tell that to the daughter of the actress who was just killed in NYC for threatening to deport an illegal alien working on her building.
Or the Scottsdale teenager that was raped by the illegal alien at her high school.

If Mexican illegals are breaking the law to get here, why should they stop breaking the law once they're here? They are the cause of most traffic accidents in So Calif, they commit rape & murder & bring gangs to our community. They bring diseases as they are not immunized, they have no education, they clutter up our hospitals so that US citizens have to suffer. They even sue our hospitals for thousands of dollars if there is no one in the ER who speaks Spanish. They collect WELFARE.
