It's a pagan holiday! In "honor" in the solstice.

Isaiah 9:6 and John 3:16. That was the intention of Christmas - to celebrate the birth of God's only begotten Son. And somehow it still manages to be about that - no matter who says it's a commercial holiday, a pagan holiday, or whatever it is they say it is. It still manages to, after all the shopping is said and done, be about giving and celebrating the One who gave first to show us what giving really is and what it's really about.

Many scholars have found evidence that Jesus was born some time in August. Others have found other times - not in December. Still, it doesn't seem to bother God that we set aside a day that may or may not have been the day His Son was born. There still seems to be a sense of wonder about Christmas. There still seems to be a hush that comes over the land on Christmas morning. I still don't get it. Not really. And I still haven't defined why it is, exactly, I celebrate Christmas - other than I just like to. I mean, as far as I'm concerned, every day is a celebration of the birth of God's Son. Every day is a day to celebrate how He brought me from darkness to light.

Christmas is absolutely NOTHING to do with Christianity!!!! What Christians are supposedly celebrating should be done in March!!!

Christmas was a collection of ancient pagan rites and ceremonies that the Christian Church hijacked and tried to suppress to push their own religion.

Everyone can enjoy Christmas - even Christians!

Winter solstice on December 21 when sun's rays are the shortest and we should pray for the light (the light of God or Goddess) to return to us.

The Roman Catholic church wanted to ban the pagan holiday and came up with the idea of Christmas but not on the pagan holiday. A few days later in an attempt that people woudl forget about it.

Well, Christmas is a pagan holiday ,perpetuated by the Catholic Church and the Vatican/ Pope. Ever heard of the city on 7 hils or who comes from there, as told by the Bible ?

RESEARCH and enlighten yourself.

In Isaiah, God has Moses behead and pike the heads of pagan worshippers, who prayed to another God. Will He think it's no big deal to celebrate Christmas ? Even when the holiday is even named after/ mocks His Son's name ?

Are you willing to bet your soul on that choice ?

We give gifts, very little, but I don't think it's correct to do in celebration of Christmas. I am actually in favor of doing our small gift exchange on a different day too.

Any more it's about how much money you can spend. Trying to one-up people with expensive presents that no one can afford.
It's called Christmas but Christ has little to do with the holiday.

Christmas is a time for giving. Christ gave his life for us. We should spend it loving one another; Being thankful for what we have; and praising the Lord.

Where did Christmas come from? Well, that's another story.

Bummer, dude, they axed your more recent question, which I had prepared an answer for.

And my answer went something like this....only if the penguin is female, the males are too busy raising the young, a nice setup if you ask me.
